This is a contract position located in San Mateo, CA. The position description is as follows: Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and update Oracle databases in support of engineering and QA. Uses standard tools and utilities to provide for necessary DBMS maintenance activities including: database reorganizations, backup and recovery, space management, performance and tuning, and change management. Performs system administration and system management functions for Oracle database systems. Assists application developers and clients with database usage and software development activities. Ensures that all software or systems for which they are responsible are monitored and tuned to ensure acceptable levels of performance and resource utilization, ensures that the software is utilizing all appropriate functions and features, timely and accurate reporting on performance, utilization and feature use as requested. Installs complex, clustered and high-availability software in hardware and virtual environments for development team in a timely manner in keeping with current release plans. Creates and maintains schedules for software maintenance and upgrades. Manages build process and scripting for development efforts. Coordinates with development team to ensure correction of all build issues. Handles all release coordination tasks, source branch tagging, and builds at the end of each product development cycle. Provides technical assistance to Operations, Applications, Business Clients and the Help Desk in order to resolve production schedules or problems. Provides 24x7 on call support for assigned systems and software. Uses available resources to research, resolve and recommend solutions for the most complex and critical systems. Qualifications: Required: This position requires a BA/BS in Computer Science and 5+ years of experience as a Server, Network, and Oracle Administrator and 3+ years managing source code repositories and build scripting. Abilities/Skills: The incumbent must have excellent analytical skills in order to effectively analyze system problems and define appropriate practices and policies. An excellent working knowledge of installation and maintenance of systems software as well as the internals of the system in order to produce the best possible system availability and performance. Excellent oral and written communications and an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
