*Location: Bothell, WA 98011* *Position: Sr. Unix Systems Administrator* *55/hr on c2c* *Duration: 9 Months (with a possibility of 3 - 5 years' contract extension)* *Job Description:* The Sr. Unix Systems Administrator will play a critical role by providing leadership in Unix/Linux infrastructure planning, growth and support. The role will also work closely with other SA/DBA's and Sr. technical team leads in the group in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support our systems with a focus on high availability and scalability. The role will also coordinate all hardware and software upgrades for the eCommerce Analytics and Platform group. *Job Responsibilities:* · Responsible for server builds, OS installation, and patch management. · Install and maintain software products as needed. · Troubleshoot issues related to hardware, OS, system software, network, SAN, NAS, etc. · Automate repetitive tasks through shell or Perl scripting · Documents and notifies Developers and Business Analysts of software and hardware upgrades. · Tunes system software for peak performance and availability. · Assists Developers with high level problem program debugging and correction. · Provide 24 x 7 on-call application support on the UNIX systems in rotation with other team members. · Makes system hardware and software recommendations as required. Work with Vendors to procure and install/upgrade hardware. · System Architecture: Application architectures, Interrelationships between applications, Significant data flows, scalability · Configure and document backup and restore procedures. · Maintains UNIX Disaster Recovery Plan and actively participate in Technology and Business Recovery activities. · Stays abreast with technical and operational tools and knowledge required to perform assigned duties · Coordinate Vendors to provide hardware support. *Technical Experience:* · Experienced in application architectures, Interrelationships between applications, significant data flows and scalability · Seven (7+) years of UNIX SA experience on Sun Solaris, with enterprise experience · UNIX SA experience on Sun Solaris · Linux experience preferred · Experience in Perl and/or Unix shell scripting / programming skills · Experience with Hitachi Storage Arrays (AMS2300, HUS-VM) preferred · Experience with VMWare preferred · 2+ years of Performance analysis and tuning · Knowledge of clustering tools such as Veritas Cluster server · Experience in Perl and/or Unix shell scripting/programming skills · Experience working in a SAN environment (EMC Symmetrix) · Experience working with Veritas Volume Manager or equivalent. · Experience working in different/diverse environments including OLTP and data warehouse *Communication and general skills:* · Self-motivated; ability to work in a team as well as take individual responsibility · Flexible, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks. · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Ability to work as part of a geographically dispersed team. · Must communicate and document all production changes · Keep up-to-date on technology trends, developments & best practices *Preferred Qualifications:* · UNIX SA experience on Sun Solaris · Performance analysis and tuningworking in a SAN environment (EMC Symmetrix) · Perl and/or Unix shell scripting/programming skills · clustering tools such as Veritas Cluster server · Experience working with Veritas Volume Manager or equivalent. · Experience working in OLTP and data warehouse environments · Linux experience · Experience with Hitachi Storage Arrays (AMS2300, HUS-VM) · Experience with VMWare -- Regards *Mayank Sharma* Technical Recruiter Sage Group Consulting Inc.
