Position Description:

The primary focus of this position is to provide architecture, engineering,
and operational support for all facets of Middleware Services Ecommerce,
Internet facing technology stacks.  This role is tasked with integrating
into Kroger’s Ecommerce department by assisting with the design, build and
operation of multiple types of ecommerce applications.  This role is
accountable for the availability and mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) of Kroger’s
Ecommerce systems and environment.  Because of the diverse technology
stack(s) that make up Kroger’s ecommerce environment(s), this role requires
a diverse background in HTTP servers, Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE)
Application containers, exposure to Microsoft .NET, experience with IBM
WebSphere Commerce Server, exposure to IBM Message Broker, experience with
NoSQL database systems (Cassandra) and familiarity with ecommerce design
patterns and development methodologies.  The role is a hybrid between
operations (60%) and engineering (40%).  The successful candidate will have
a background in both.

o   Enterprise Backup/Recovery (support of Kroger enterprise backup /
recovery platforms for Mainframe and open systems solutions.)

o   Enterprise Collaboration Platform Services (support of Kroger
enterprise collaboration platforms i.e., email, calendaring, instant
messaging, mobile communications infrastructure, and portal).

o   Enterprise DBA Platform Services

o   Enterprise Desktop Engineering Services

o   Enterprise Network Engineering Services

o   Enterprise Storage Platform Services

o   Identity Management, Enterprise Directory Services, encryption.

o   Enterprise Web Engineering Services (support of Kroger enterprise web
platforms MS Ecommerce service, IBM WebSphere, IBM HIS / Apache, tomcat,
JBOSS, and portal).

o   Integration Services

o   Mainframe MVS and VSE Platform Services

o   UNIX AS/400 Platform Services

o   Windows/Citrix/Directory Services

o   Information Security



Essential Job Functions:

o   Provide guidance to Ecommerce development teams on Kroger’s Middleware
technology systems and services in an effort to improve performance and
reliability of new applications and new application features.

o   Provision new systems and services for Kroger’s Ecommerce space.  This
includes, but is not limited to, installing and configuring barebones
hardware, installing and configuring middleware software components,
integrating new systems with Kroger’s security framework and being service
delivery owner of new systems and services development partners and
external customers

o   Manage, execute, log and report break/fixes changes for Ecommerce
Middleware Applications

o   Develop and follow documented processes and procedures to ensure
Middleware systems stability.

o   Provide and analyze usage, performance, service level, compliance and
audit reporting of Kroger’s Ecommerce environments

o   Implement, report, and monitor service upgrades (e.g. security fixes,
etc.).

o   Test and support software, hardware upgrades that directly affect
Ecommerce applications and systems

o   Perform process, hardware and software analysis on new technologies in
their area of support and make recommendations to management on Middleware
technology stacks

o   Support and maintain Kroger Ecommerce solutions by utilizing required
tools and technologies.  Provide off-hours support (24 x 7) as required

o   Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with
or without reasonable accommodation



Requirements:

The ideal candidates should possess:

o   1-3 years of experience working in the ecommerce technology space

o   Exposure and preferably experience with IBM WebSphere Commerce Server

o   Experience with and familiarity with NoSQL (Cassandra) database
technologies as well as relational databases (Will train on NoSQL if they
do not have)

o   Linux/Unix platform expertise

o   Experience with Apache and preferably experience with Reverse Proxies

o   Experience with firewalls and common ecommerce security frameworks

o   Strong communication skills, as this person will have frequent
one-on-one interaction with other developers and team members

o   Needs to be able to “hit the ground running”.  Will be trained in some
of the harder to find skill sets, but should already be solid in all things
Middleware

o   Must have experience working with clients in analysis and resolving
level 2 and 3 problems

o   Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills



Desired Skills:

o   Associates degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an
Information Systems position.

o   1-3  years of experience in supporting IT Infrastructure or Security
services

o   1-3 years working with IBM Liberty, Tomcat and IBM WebSphere (Base/ND)

o   Exposure to Agile development methodologies preferred but not required

o   Some background in Java development a plus but not required
