Client: Government agency

Note--7-hour day...8-hour day with 1-hour unpaid lunch – it’s a 35-hour
work week

Location: Downtown Brooklyn, NY

Duration:  24+ months



*It is a UI and UX – so designing and some programming – so it’s a mix of
both*



Title: User Interface Designer



Under general supervision of the Creative Team Lead, with latitude for
independent initiative and judgment, serve as a User Interface Designer.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced developer of interactive user
experiences based on user needs and will possess great UX, UI and visual
design skills. A thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered
design methodologies and mobile design experience is a must. The UX
designer will be responsible for creating consistently formatted and
branded responsive websites and user interface elements while maintaining
the highest levels of quality, efficiency, consistency, and innovation. The
Designer will have experience in documenting user flows, decisions, and
interactions, and creating interim design deliverables such as mock-ups and
wireframes. The Designer will be an expert user of standard interface
design tools and practices as detailed below.



*Responsibilities*

The User Interface Designer must:

   - Translate complex ideas into elegant, intuitive designs
   - Define and prototype user interfaces
   - Create supporting documentation such as wireframes, flow charts, and
   process maps
   - Research usability trends and keep up with industry standards
   - Gather and analyze metrics
   - Participate in, or lead, usability testing
   - Collaborate closely with senior UX and product management to refine
   and deliver solutions
   - Collaborate closely with back-end developers to ensure effective
   execution of designs



Additionally, the Designer may be asked to:



   - Write or debug HTML, XML, CSS, SASS, JavaScript or jQuery.
   - Assist in writing custom controls using .NET, Ajax and third-party
   plug-ins such as Telerik.
   - Create interactive website parts using Flash and/or FLEX website
   development tools, as well as creating fallback systems for iOS systems and
   other non-Flash devices.





*Qualification Requirements:*



   - At least 8 years of experience in a web or application development
   group.
   - Online portfolio required including responsive websites.
   - Excellent written and oral communication skills.
   - Expert HTML and CSS knowledge
   - Strong JavaScript knowledge.
   - Excellent responsive design and Bootstrap framework knowledge
   - Experience prototyping with Axure or similar tools
   - Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and
   Illustrator preferred.
   - Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Interface Design, or related
   program or equivalent years of professional experience.
