Position Description: Experience Level: 4 year degree plus 5-7 years
experience.
Description: Designs, tests, implements, maintains, and controls the
organization's physical, relational, and object-oriented databases across
multiple platforms and computing environments. Participates in the development
of data architectures and database management policies and standards. Provides
in-depth consulting services in the identification and resolution of database
issues. Participates in the planning, design, and usage of data resources.
May develop detailed data models and entity relationship diagrams.
Minimum Requirements
a.. Expert as a DBA for MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005
b.. Knowledge of upgrading from MS SQL Server 2000 to MS SQL Server 2005
c.. Working experience with Windows 2003 Server, Polyserve, and Windows
Clustering
d.. Knowledge of database replication, log shipping, Double Take, and data
mirroring
e.. Knowledge and experience of converting from DTS to SSIS
f.. Working experience as a DBA for Oracle 9i and 10G
g.. Knowledge of upgrading from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10G
h.. Working Experience with AIX, Solaris, and Oracle on Windows
i.. Knowledge and experience using Shareplex for replication
j.. Knowledge and experience using RMAN for backups
k.. Knowledge and experience using Sybase PowerDesigner to manage database
models
l.. Perl scripting to maintain infrastructure scripts
m.. Candidate must possess self motivation and strong communication skills
to manage customer relations with emphasis on verbal communication and problem
solving skills.
n.. Knowledge of performance data collection, performance monitoring and
performance improvement.
o.. Knowledge of backups and recovery, Security Administration, Database
and Server Performance Monitoring and Tuning, and Capacity Planning.
Preferred Skills
a.. Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced database analysts
b.. Provides senior-level consulting services in the identification and
resolution of database issues.
c.. Serve as a high-level resource on database management issues, and
participate in the planning, design, and usage of data resources.
d.. Ability to understand VB and .NET code to assist developers
