Client is for someone that is experienced in Microsoft SMS and System Center
Configuration Manager. The work description is below. We estimated about 400
hours for this work and we will have another resource working on this who
knows the client and who will be learning SMS.



*Introduction*

ITCD has also setup a Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) to
accomplish

remote deployment of applications and system imaging but requires a subject
matter expert to refine the development to handle enterprise environment and
be more effective. ITCD would like to upgrade to Microsoft System Center
Configuration Manager.

*Rationale for Contract*

With the continued growth of the network and expansion of support
responsibilities we are unable to develop the advanced skills to bring this
product to the enterprise level. A subject matter expert will enable us to
get this application to that enterprise level and then transfer that
knowledge to current state staffing.

*Statement of Work Deliverables*

• Design and plan the deployment of Microsoft System Center Configuration
Manager.

• Make recommendations on the current ITCD configuration of WSUS.

• Make recommendations on using Microsoft System Center Configuration
Manager for third party updates.

• Create documentation of processes.

• Knowledge transfer to state staff.

• Be able to design and configure Microsoft System Center Configuration
Manager servers/systems so it can handle a multi-domain, multi-site
environment  with 300 servers, 5,000 desktops and 350 network printers.

• Integrate and deploy Dell Open Manager and 1E SMSNomad and Wakeup with
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager



*Analysis Phase*

Analyze the following items to obtain detailed information that will be used
to develop a plan and schedule to implement the SMS system; specifically the
following items:

·          Obtain a complete, detailed map of the infrastructure

·          Determine infrastructure requirements :

o   Routing requirements

o   Bandwidth requirements for low end remote sites

o    Determine hardware requirements for SMS servers

o   Determine backup plan for SMS servers

o   Prioritize devices that will be configured in SMS

o    Determine scheduling of updates

o    Determine a testing plan

o   Determine who will be trained during all phases of the project

o   Review finding with client prior to development of Planning document

*Planning Phase*

Develop a plan that will describe and document how the SMS systems will be
implemented and supported.

*Required Info*

   - Determine Discovery Method
   - Determine SMS boundaries via AD sites, IP ranges and/or IP subnets
   - Identify the number of sites required to manage the computers in your
   organization
   - Identify what systems you need to enable for each site, and the
   associated planning considerations for each site system
   - Identify all computers/servers that will connect to the site database
   and run a session of the Configuration Manager console.  This includes any
   computers at secondary sites that will connect to the primary site's
   databases.
   - Determine client installation methods/tactics
   - Determine client agent settings
   - Determine which low-bandwidth sites will require SMSNomad (Nomad
   Enterprise by 1E)
   - Document the above information and formulate a plan for implementation
   - Create project Gantt chart from planning document



*Implementation Phase *

Using the detail planning document from above, execute the implementation
phase. During this phase documentation will be jointly developed with client
to describe the implementation process. Using industry best practices along
with Microsoft implantation standards, the project plan will be executed in
accordance with the Gantt chart timeline.
