Title : ETL Architect. Location: Chicago, IL Duartion : 6+ months conrtact Rate: $60-63/hr Major Work Accountabilities: Acts as the technical subject matter expert for ETL design patterns and implementation. Provides ETL and technical direction for complex development tasks including application break-fix. Provides senior level expertise as it relates to decision-making and priorities for the application technical architecture. Works with Application DBAs, Development and Technical Leads, Data Architects, System and Design Analysts and Infrastructure Leads to design and develop high-performance E2E technical solutions. Leads/oversees the construction and implementation during the life cycle of the solutions. Provides the technical leadership to developers, systems analysts and other IT technicians to ensure the successful delivery of the solution. Leads/oversees performance tuning activities to tune the E2E systems. Reviews and approves all ETL Technical and Design Specifications. Assists Development Leads in solving complex technical problems. Assists team members with proper usage of Data Stage tools and ETL concepts. Assists Development Lead in creating estimates for development and unit-testing efforts. Participates and contributes in detail technical requirements and code-reviews. Supports Data Modeling activities so that resulting model/solution is efficient and meets performance requirements. Works with System and Design Analysts, Development Leads and Enterprise Architects to ensure final solution meets the business and organizational enterprise architecture standards. Evaluates strengths and flaws in application designs for continuous improvements. Develops and documents architectural impacts based upon outcomes of monitoring and evaluation activities. Facilitates the development of standardized procedures to provide a common process to integrate the deployment of new tools, techniques and technologies to existing IT processes. Knowledge and Experience: Possesses demonstrable hands-on and deep DB2, SQL and ETL design and development experience. Deep knowledge and extensive experience with Data Stage development tools/methodologies Advanced demonstrated proficiency in creating, documenting and communicating application designs for multiple systems comprised of many sub-components. Hands-on experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP) including use cases and UML. Advanced demonstrated proficiency consulting/negotiating formally and informally with others. Advanced demonstrated proficiency producing realistic and achievable deployment plans. Extensive experience in the field of measurement of and performance tuning end-to-end ETL programs and Data Warehouse applications. Understanding in J2EE, Portals, Cognos BI Platform, and DataStage ETL Platform are highly desired. Excellent communication and negotiating skills. Excellent analytical skills. Results oriented problem solver with ability to make difficult decisions. At least 10 years of relevant, demonstrable experience.
