Java Developer

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: 

This position is responsible for a variety of software development and
related project specific tasks and communication. 

 

ACTIVITIES: Please list primary duties and responsibilities which are

Time Principal Functions of the Job 

60% Software Development using development platform following defined best
practices. 

15% Meet with external partners to determine project requirements. Write,
test and implement software interfaces to meet internal specifications and
external partner requirements. 

15% Maintain and support existing application. 

10% Meet with internal users and develop new functionality to internal and
external web based platform. 

 

C: SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

D: REVIEWS AND APPROVALS: List the typical decisions that this position is
required to make. Please indicate what kinds of constraints, policies, and
procedures are placed on decision making.

                        All decisions must adhere to all Security Policies 

                        All decisions must adhere to Change Management

                        Any decision which is in conflict with Security
policy must be approved by Director of IT 

                        Any decision which is in conflict with change
management process or policy must be approved by Director of IT 

                        Decision to exceed designated number of hours worked
per week must be approved by Director of IT 

 

E. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE: Detail below the qualifications and experience
this position requires. Be sure to include only those areas that are
essential to this job. 

Education and/or Experience 

BA degree with 2 years industry or related experience or 4 years industry or
related experience plus applicable professional certification. Equivalent
experience may be substituted for degree. 

Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge Required 

                        Strong knowledge of Java, Tomcat, SOAP, WSDL, Web
Services, Hibernate, XML, SQL or similar technologies 

                        Experience working with JSTL, JSP, HTML, JavaScript,
CSS 

                        Object-oriented design experience and agile
programming experience 

                        Project Management experience 

                        Familiar with source control systems, preferably
distributed version control systems 

                        Troubleshooting skills 

                        Ability to communicate with all levels of the
organization 

                        Ability to work well within a team environment 

                        Good organizational skills
