Sr. Network and Security Engineer
Located in San Jose, CA Duration: 3-6 months or 3 mo contract to hire Rate: DOE Details: This is an IT networking and security focused position, which requires in-depth technical expertise in networking and security related technologies, architectures and systems. Job Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Leading role to implement, support, maintain and monitor routers, switches (Cisco), SSL VPN, wireless access points, firewalls, and IDS/IPS devices for stability, reliability, scalability and compliance with security and regulatory requirements for all global sites in the US and Asia Pacific. 2. Implement and support network (WAN/MPLS/LAN) traffic analysis to diagnose and resolve issues. 3. Supports, and maintains Positini-Google email filtering services 4. Lead team work to conduct research and testing of new technologies from Network and Security perspective as required, to engineer network and security solutions and standards based on requirements, best practices, and technical knowledge. 5. Develops detailed designs using best of breed network security equipment including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and secure access control systems. 6. May perform other system helpdesk support responsibilities as assigned. Secondary duties and responsibilities 1. Administer Windows Active Directory, Exchange 2003 servers and mail connectors in a multi-sites environment. 2. Support, maintain core network services like DHCP, DNS, in AD environment. 3. Inventory, monitor and analyze storage, network, and computing usage issues and contribute to capacity planning initiatives. In particular, monitor resource usage on servers and plan for hardware upgrades. 4. Handle Helpdesk and field supports for issue resolution or escalation. 5. Contribute to mentoring junior staff and knowledge to global team. Qualifications - University degree in technical field with 8 - 15 years experience and on-going training in IT. - Firewall and VPN configurations, Riverbed WAN acceleration, Juniper SSLVPN, email firewall, Juniper Netscreen/SRX Firewall/VPN appliances, - BGP/OSPF routing protocols. - Network monitor and management - Network hardware including wireless, routers, firewalls, modems and hubs. - Current Enterprise/Carrier-class firewall platforms. - Network Security assessment tools and encryption technologies. - MPLS and other vendors management - Security concepts behind the AAA (authentication, authorization, and auditing) framework. - Excellent communications skills (Mandarin Chinese a plus).
