 Hours and Shift Requirements:

• Due to the Production Support requirements of this role, the team operates
a 7x24 shift rotation, where each Unix SA is currently required to work the
following scenarios:

o 5 nine hour days during a 7 day period

o These days may or may not be consecutive

o The days will rotate every so often, so working days will not be fixed

o Requires Saturday, Sunday and US holiday coverage

o The working hours will be from 12PM to 9PM EST

o In late March 2011, the team will be moving to 12 hour shifts, from 9AM to
9PM EST four days per week in the office, with 3 days off, then 4 days on/3
off

Again, Weekend and holiday coverage is required, along with changes in the
days the candidate will be working, and not necessarily consecutive

 Basic Qualifications

 Required technical and soft skills:

• Supporting Large Unix environments of greater than 5,000 servers

• At least 4+ years experience in a production support environment,
preferably within a financial or fast-paced and pressured support
environment

• Strong Unix and Linux technical skills are required to trouble-shoot and
analyze issues that occur in the environment.  NIS, NFS, Solaris, Linux,
X86/Sparc server experience, ILO/Console management, TCP/IP, Legato (or
NetBackup) experience, HBA/Powerpath and storage experience, LUN
configurations, GRUB configuration and experience, LVM, SVM/ODS, Unix
Hardware Experience, Managing/using ticketing systems, SSH, INET protocols
FTP, SFTP etc. SNMP, Jumpstart, KickStart, Bootp, SAR

• Applications: Excel, Word, Visio, Powerpoint, Outlook, Communicator/chat
experience

• Tape backup, media management and tape lifecycle management experience is
required

• Shell scripting experience

• Excellent ability to multi-task in a highly complex and matrixed
environment

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work well in a team under
pressure, and communicate with demanding end users and other technical teams


• Initiative, problem solving and a drive for resolving technical and
procedural issues, is required

• Flexibility in taking on different roles within the Unix/Backups
environment, and splitting between project and Production support work,
sometimes with extended periods, is required

 Preferred Qualifications

 Preferred, but not required skills:

• Autosys/JIL experience

• Nagios, Tivoli or other Alerting Infrastructure (BMC Patrol etc.)

• Perl, PHP or Python

• Database experience with DB configurations, space management and backups

• Excellent Metrics reporting, data analysis and presentation
