One of my clients at NYC is looking to hire a VMS Email System Engineer for on a contract position. Due to policy constraints and mandates the agency is required to retain accessibility of old data from the previous e-mail system, HP Office Server on OpenVMS. Data within the old VMS mail system was not migrated to the new Exchange email system. OPWDD is in its final phase of this email transition which limits access to special requests only, involving and requiring System Administration staff. The consultant will be charged with maintaining appropriate mail routines necessary to bridge OPWDDs system infrastructure technologies with the new Exchange E-mail system. The workload also includes necessary enhancements to insure secure email practices and system security in regards to Agency and CSCIC (Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination) requirements. Additional VMS Administration is required as we are still migrating away from older VMS networking technologies like DECNET to the newer TCPIP network protocol. Responsibilities for File Share management on the current Pathworks platform on VMS will be a responsibility of this position. The consultant will manage permissions and general security on the Pathworks platform and insure continued accessibility for the OPWDD. The consultant will be managed by and report to state staff who are responsible for directing and reviewing their work. The consultant will also provide knowledge transfer to OPWDD staff as part of their duties. In all cases the consultant will work on Mission Critical tasks. *Mandatory Job Title*: VMS Email System Engineer Location: NYC *MANDATORY Requirements*: --Minimum (4) years of experience in VMS Systems Administration including installing and configuring VMS TCP/IP services --Security policies and system policies (at least one (1) year must be since January 1, 2010) --Minimum 1 yr. experience configuring Open VMS 8.3. X systems --Minimum 4 yrs experience with HP/Compaq Office Server for Open VMS Administration including at least 1 yr with Version 6.1 of Office Server. --Minimum 2 yrs experience with Customization of All-in-1/Office Server. --Minimum 2 yrs experience supporting PMDF Internet mail gateway on an Open VMS platform. At least one (1) year must be since January 1, 2010. --Minimum 2 yrs experience with account and file restoration within the HP/Compaq Office Server for Open VMS. At least one (1) year must be since January 1, 2010. --Minimum 2 yrs experience with HP Pathworks V6.1 and V7.3 *DESIRABLE Experience Listed in order of importance*: 1. Experience installing, configuring, and administering HP Open VMS 7.3 clusters. 2. Experience performing upgrades on Open VMS clusters and servers. 3. Working knowledge of DNS. 4. Experience with System security monitoring and auditing. 5. Working knowledge of SMTP. 6 Experience with SPAM Filtering and Virus protection products. 7 Experience in system performance monitoring and tuning. 8 Experience implementing and supporting the Transport Layer Security (TLS) features of an email system. 9. Experience working on a project team in a large, complex, data processing environment. 10.
