SUMMARY Working independently, the Senior Software Engineer, Core Services Layer develops and supports Multi-Channel Services Layer. The individual shall participate in all phases of the software development life cycle from inception, to post-production support processes. Additionally, the senior software engineer will be responsible for suggesting improvements to the services development framework, design principles, and the software development lifecycle. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Work with project teams, team leadership including technical project manager, architect, developers, quality assurance analysts and business analysts to create high performance, high concurrency, multi-channel service oriented software solutions that fully meet the expectations of project sponsors. In collaboration with the team, continuously evaluate and re-invent architectures, design principles, automated build/code quality processes, deployment strategies and best practices applying to all the aforementioned categories. Develop and maintain administration tools to enable production support teams to maintain and troubleshoot issues without impacting ongoing solutions development efforts. Develop a world-class integration experience with service consumers, focused on cross-functional relationships with service consumers, service providers, cross-functional IT groups and impacted business communities. Analyze product performance and customer feedback post-launch, and respond quickly to diagnose and correct any problems RELATED COMPETENCIES Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills Having achieved a satisfactory technical and professional skill knowledge in position-related areas, a Senior Software Engineer keeps up with current developments and trends in areas related to job functions. Managing Complexity Understanding and managing the complexity of a middle-tier application, accessed by an unlimited number of service consumers, on a variety of technology stacks. Innovation and Problem Solving Generate innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities. Includes, but is not limited to mentoring/partnering with service consumers to ensure proper techniques for communicating with Core Services layer Clear, Concise and Relevant Communication Communicate clearly, with respect and consideration for the point of view of the receiver of said communication. BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE) Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering or related academic discipline required. At least five years of relevant experience as a software developer; at least three focused on services development in a fast-paced environment preferred. At least 1 year of Agile software development experience preferred. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES Proficient or expert knowledge on related technical skill sets and technologies described in related competencies section of the document. Working ability to work effectively with a variety of constituents (Architecture, Configuration Management, Quality Assurance, Business Analysts, Other Development Teams, Business Customers) Working knowledge of effective problem solving and identifying innovative solutions, including new products Proficient analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate existing or proposed new solutions for potential flaws or improvement opportunities including alignment to departmental goals and standards.
