UNIX Technician with NOC Experience
Location: Marlborough, MA
Duration: 6+ months
Note: Face to Face is required after telephonic Interview.
Description:
This individual, as part of our client Network Operations Center (NOC) will
provide 24X7 production support for the global Unix/Linux infrastructure.
The candidate must possess technical depth and breadth, should have a "can
do" hands-on orientation, and be able to function both independently and as
a member of a team. The right candidate should have extensive technical
experience in managing production support with strong analytical,
troubleshooting, communication, and decision-making skills.
Perform 24X7 production support for the Unix/Linux infrastructure as the
first level of contact to triage/troubleshoot issues.
Lead & manage incident bridges, take ownership of issues, escalate to senior
technical staff (as/when needed) collaborate with other teams on remediation
and manage them through completion
Diagnose and resolve UNIX performance anomalies and system related outages
Keys to the Position
* UNIX, (Solaris), LINUX Application, and Linux Tools experience
* Veritas and EMC Storage experience is DESIRABLE
* Solid Operations background with excellent communication and
telephone support skills. The selected UNIX NOC Engineer will be the first
point of contact to triage/troubleshoot issues
* Must be able to work an 8 hour shift between the hours of 7 AM to 7
PM. Flexibility in schedule is key
* Financial Services experience would be nice, but not required.
Candidates MUST have experience working in a large environment
Minimum Requirements:
* 3-5 years experience as a technical contributor in Unix/Linux teams
supporting global 24x7 distributed multi-technology/multi-location server
environments.
* Hands-on experience in environments with the following areas:
* Sun M-series, T-series, X-series, Fujitsu 650/450/2500 and other
enterprise class serversHP DL-Series, IBM X-series x86 H/W running Linux
* Solaris 8/9/10 and RedHat Enterprise Linux (5.3+)
* Solaris zones and other physical/logical partition technologies
* VMWare based virtualization with VCenter experience
* Veritas Storage Foundation suite
* Ability to function/lead autonomously in a collaborative culture
with focus on business outcome(s), impact to the firm and client service
orientation
* A personal style along with commitment and communication ability
that allows for partnering with IS peers and teams to work productively and
efficiently.
* Good understanding of the financial services industry, business
priorities/workflow and its associated IT UNIX infrastructure, system and
application needs (DESIRABLE)
* Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
* Applicant must meet ALL of these requirements.
