In our experience thus far, we are receiving candidates with good Hadoop
skills but not the core java skills.
In a nutshell, we are looking for those Hadoop skills as listed below. But
we also need candidates who have recently *written *core java code, *have
used core java to interact with Hadoop applications* and ultimately, be
able to produce some code on our Client’s Core Java Coding Exercise Test
that will be given by the client. This candidate is likely someone that has
been a solid Java Developer and then transitioned into a Hadoop position.
*Job Description*
Our Client is hiring a senior level Hadoop Engineer Consultant. This
individual must be capable of performing analysis,
design, implementation, testing, maintenance and support tasks with minimal
supervision. This position requires
interaction with other group members and departments, and as such, requires
excellent communication skills. This
position requires the ability to work independently, as well as in
collaboration with others to implement solutions. The
following is a list of the duties and responsibilities of the role:
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:
- Implement, test, maintain and support software, based on technical design
specifications and customer input/feedback

- Prepare technical design specifications based on functional requirements
and analysis documents 5%
- Review functional requirements, analysis and design documents and provide
feedback-10%
- Assist customer support with technical problems and questions 10%
- Assist other development staff 5%
- Investigate software development tools 5%
- Perform special assignments 5%
- Participate in architecture and code reviews 5%

*Essential Experience, Knowledge & Skills*:
*- Minimum of five years of experience in software engineering*
*- Minimum one year of experience developing with Big Data technologies*
*- Very strong experience with an object-oriented programming language,
preferably Java*
*- Strong object-oriented analysis and design skills*
*- Experience with Apache Hive, HiveServer2, MapReduce, Apache Knox, Apache
Ranger, Ambari, Hue, Presto*
*- Experience with developing RESTful services*
*- Experience with SQL, JDBC, ODBC*
*- Experience with Mongo DB, MySQL, Open LDAP*
*- Experience with JIRA and Confluence*
*- Experience working in SCRUM methodology*
*- Knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure - Amazon AWS (EC2, EBS, S3)*
*- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills*
