Please send resumes to [email protected] Position: JAVA Developer Duration : Long Term Location: Iowa City, IA Job Description The Selected Candidate will be a part of the Applied Technology & PoTL team supporting ICE Image Editing and Image Services Responsibilities include: • Perform Software development and Maintenance on complex & large scale software systems. • Responsible for development of new programs, analyzes current programs and processes and making recommendations which yield a more cost effective product. • Participate in requirement gathering definition and review. • Test and debug newly written or modified software code. • Perform all development tasks with a high level of quality. • Create unit test plans and executes them. • Estimate and plans own tasks and activities with respect to time constraints. • Assess software change requests and problem reports. • Research and provide recommendations on technologies and frameworks; conduct feasibility studies and time estimates. • Prepare, review and maintain effective procedures and documentation. • Design, develop and support front end and backend software systems using Java, Perl, C++, J2EE, Tomcat, Weblogic, XML, Web services and imaging technologies. • Configure and setup test and production environments. Job Skills: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent education/ experience. • Minimum 3 years of professional development experience. • Knowledge of Unix/Linux required • Knowledge of image processing techniques preferred • Knowledge of Pearson Access and ICE image editing and Image services preferred. • Advance Database programming skill required. • Perl and other scripting skills preferred. • Strong Java programming skills is required. • Experience with Tomcat, Weblogic, Spring, JSP, XML and web services preferred. • Experience with Oracle, My SQL, Sybase or MS SQL server is required. • Skills in designing application databases and software systems preferred. • Ability to perform accurate software project estimates is required. • Ability to design/architect medium to large software and hardware systems preferred. • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. • Experience in leading and managing software development project preferred. • Experience with Agile software development a plus.
