The UNIX/LINUX engineering team is responsible for activities associated
with new product evaluation, setting and enforcement of new UNIX/LINUX
standards, automation of routine/common administration tasks, collaborating
with systems integrators/administrators on new product implementation and
major product upgrades, and provides L1 support coverage in absence of L1
staff.



*Job Description:*

•                    Represent UNIX/LINUX platform interests on new IT
projects: Engineers and implementers collaborates on customer requirements,
work with other organizations to understand the needs, provide project team
with time and cost estimates, and see that the requests are fulfilled.

•                    Performs research and standards setting tasks
associated with new products used to support a specific business function,
major upgrades associated with application life cycle, support L1 systems
administrators, and investigate new opportunities that enhance our
technical capabilities and help reduce cost.

•                    Fulfills requests associated with new system
implementations or major system enhancements, often accompanied by new
engineering standards.   (requests and builds not considered to be routine
i.e. newly engineered products)

•                    Validates all new and updated engineering standards.
(Obtains acceptance signoff from group manager)

•                    Hold periodic meetings with customers to assess needs
and address points of concerns including by not limited to hardware life
cycle, resource allocation and utilization, data backup/retention, and
reported incidents.

•                    Provide global escalation support for L1 support staff
and provides L1 support coverage during the absence of L1 administrators.
