Client has an immediate opening for Senior Java Developer to perform JAVA Software Application Programming Interface (API) development and application development in support of a newly developed enterprise architecture to modernize notices processing.
Our client delivers services and technical leadership for mission-critical federal government, public sector, and private sector programs. This position is supporting their customer, the Social Security Administration. The position is located in Baltimore, on the west side of town.They are responsible for providing a full range of IT integration services and supporting a multi-platform computing environment, including: information systems modernization initiatives, software engineering, project management, infrastructure services, data warehousing, database administration, research, planning, security, federal enterprise architecture initiatives, research and all levels of Internet, Intranet and Web portal initiatives and migrating legacy architecture to web-based platforms. All employees must be able to pass a Federal Suitability Check for a position of public trust.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
This person will work closely with the customer in order to design, develop, validate, integrate, implement, and maintain Notices applications that operate within this new Enterprise Communication Architecture (ECA) and infrastructure This new architecture will replace older Notices Architectures and systems. This new architecture and supporting systems will be designed, developed, and deployed using more agile approaches in order to accelerate the rate of change and modernization. The ECA agile architecture / infrastructure will support future Notices processes and multiple delivery channels. The person in this position will provide the software development support for this modernization effort replacing old legacy applications within the legacy architecture.
Required Skills:
•At least 11 years of JAVA API / SW Development experience
•Experience with design & development of WebSphere based applications
•Experience performing application SW development within WebSphere, Solaris and Linux.
•Web Application Development - must be able to work with web services and API calls
•Clear understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
•Strong written & verbal communication skills
•Ability and experience supporting the SDLC (requirements analysis, design alternatives, detail program specification, etc.)
