*Requirement Description: *

*Position Purpose*

This position provides systems administration, support, and management for
large scale enterprise VMware in large EMC storage environment.

Senior level VM Administrator will support the full system engineering
life-cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development,
integration, test, and implementation of VMware in a highly dynamic
environment. Work as part of a team in support of operational and project
related activities. Provide advanced technical and operational support to
other departments and teams as required.



*Primary Duties and Responsibilities:*

• Provide technical support for VMware for related project activities

• VMware Administrator will be responsible for Architecture,
Implementation, Monitoring and Maintenance of VMware ESX/ESXi environment.

• Strong understanding of Virtual CPU, virtual memory, networking and
storage setup.

• Participate in design review sessions, guide development and architecture
teams on delivering highly available and scalable solutions.

• Build and modify systems to meet project and user requirements.

• Apply patches and upgrades to operating systems and layered software as
required.

•           Provide advanced troubleshooting for applications and systems
with emphasis on root cause analysis

•           Provide 24x7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation
with other team members

•           Automation of system administration tasks

•           Establish standards, policies and procedures to leverage best
practices in the operation of the system administration teams.

•           Establish best practices for management and maintenance of
virtual environment and

• Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business
management as needed.

• Provide technical advice and expertise to junior staff members



*Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:*

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Self-motivated and able to meet objectives with little or no direct
supervision.

•           Write and maintain documentation describing changes and
modifications to all systems

•           Participate in meetings and conference calls related to project
and troubleshooting activities

•           Research solutions to various business and technical problems,
evaluate alternatives and be able to present recommendations and
justifications to management to enable continuing innovation within the
infrastructure and develop a roadmap

•           Provide mentoring to fellow system administrators, systems
programmers and others

•           Act as technical liaison in support for Windows/Linux systems ,
storage administration and related project activities

•           Provide 24 x 7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation
with other team members as required.



*Position Requirements*

*Functional/Technical Skills:*

• This role require someone with very hands-on VMware implementation
experience

• Strong Working experience in sphere 4.x/5.x including ESX and supporting
tools

• Datacenter Migration, Upgrade and Patching

• Direct and participate in the effective provisioning,
installation/configuration

• Experience working in an onshore/offshore model is a plus

• Responsibilities include but not limited to providing support, cloning,
removing hardware, etc.

• Responsible for effectively provisioning, installation/configuration,
operation, and maintenance of systems hardware/software related to the
VMware infrastructure.

• Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and
related procedures adhere to organizational standards

• Experience in the administration of large VMware implementations,
including the use of HA, DRS, templates, cloning, and consolidation to
include administration in an enterprise class virtual environment in a
distributed environment.

• Design, test, and manage disaster recovery of virtual machines using EMC
RecoverPoint and VMware SRM

• Experience with SAN, NAS, iSCSI and other storage allocation to ESXi
clusters and troubleshooting VMDK/RDM in virtual machines.

• Experience with Microsoft clustering in a VMware environment.

• Familiarity implementing and using VMware solutions for Database
technologies like MS SQL Server, Oracle and/or Teradata will be preferred.

• Experience in Patch and Package administration

• Experience in the installation, customization, capacity management and
maintenance of vSphere ESXi and other components within VMware.

• Experience in Cloud environment using ESXi and building private cloud

• Experience in Automation and scripting ( PowerShell)

• Experience in using virtualize environment monitoring tools such as
vFoglight / vKernel or other 3rd party tools

• Experience in VMware vCloud Networking and Security 5.1,(formerly vShield)

• Experience in Troubleshooting Hardware and Operating system related issues

• Familiarity with HP Blade and x86 hardware architecture.

• Thorough knowledge of physical and logical disk systems and their impact
on performance

• Understand and follow ITIL processes including Change & Configuration,
Problem, Incident and Service Readiness and other SOP ( Standard Operating
Procedures)

• Requires competency in customer focus, change & innovation, strategic
thinking, relationship building & influencing and result focus



*Experience:*

• 8+ years’ experience in core VMware Administration experience

•           6 to 8 years in an Windows, Linux, HP hardware including blade
technology

•           Experience in a large, 24x7 environment

•           Experience with Complex Virtualized systems

•           Experience with vCloud Director/ vShield/ vFabric
