Requirement Description: SCOPE OF WORK Under the direction of NYC Department of Education management, major responsibilities include analysis, design, and development of systems architecture to support various student and business related databases. In addition, the consultant may have prime responsibility for the operation and management of the servers. These activities will be related to, but not limited to the following areas: • Performing installation, configuration, customization, creation, implementation and support • Setup/administer Oracle database security environment; • Carry out DB Performance Tuning, troubleshoot DB problems and work with ORACLE support on problems and questions; • Schedule RMAN (backup/recovery); • Install and configure, customize ORACLE server and clients; • Schedule, install and configure ORACLE upgrades; • Install, configure, customize ORACLE related system level software; • Design, develop and create all database file system layouts and Oracle databases; • Monitor software notifications and updates; • Manage distributed databases and configure client/server and Web-based environments; • Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting support to developers; • Review database design specifications and application coding routines to ensure adherence to best practices for database usage; • Ensure database performance is maintained at optimal levels and is able to support defined business requirements; • Create/maintain referential integrity relationships/constraints; • Provide problem diagnosis and resolution and schedule database backups; • Diagnose and resolve backup failures; • Configure, analyze application SQL to do SQL Tuning for performance improvement opportunities; • Develop/maintain Oracle database operational procedures; • Experience with Oracle RMAN, Data Guard, RAC, Oracle Advanced Security Option and Label Security are highly desirable; • Experience in supporting high-availability production databases; These activities will encompass all project life cycle phases including production support (24/7) and documentation of all tasks in accordance with Department of Education standards. The servers and databases support applications that display Special Education student and staff data. The applications involved are in Visual Studio .Net with Oracle Server for data management and Active Directory for Identity management. The minimum core competencies required of the consultant is: • Eight or more years of technical experience • Four or more years of Oracle 10 administration experience • Two or more years of Oracle 11 administration experience • Experience troubleshooting stored procedures and queries • Performance analysis skills • Experience troubleshooting Oracle Linux and Microsoft Windows 2003 Enterprise servers • Good writing and verbal communication skills • Active Directory, LDAP (desired) • IBM Information Analyzer, Data Stage and Profile stage (desired) Attributes: Personable, determined, meticulous, cooperative, flexible and punctual. Schedule: Ability to be available as needed for on-call 7X24 shift rotations, overtime and off hours support.
