Please find the below job description and let me know if you are interested in the job. *Role: **SONET Administrator* *Location: Philadelphia, PA* *Employment: 6 **Months Contract * *Start: ASAP* *Job Description: * Has responsibility for operational quality of system equipment specifically the GE Jungle MUX OC-48 and OC-3 nodes and the Alcatel-Lucent 7705 IP/MPLS service router. Hands on experience in the design, deployment and testing of SONET networks is a mandatory requirement. Candidate must be capable of reviewing SONET traffic tables and design documents and translating these to the deployed network to ensure the design is functional in the field and quality issues are identified early in the deployment process and addressed. Must be capable of conducting SONET Bit Error Rate tests and IP RFC 2544 testing on Ethernet circuits. Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site integration (Major Move, Add, Change, or Delete), testing, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers. This job may include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software. *Responsibilities:* Maintaining, integrating, testing, consulting, support, and documentation of the Alcatel-Lucent and GE Equipment installed at the customer site. Oversee the technical accuracy of installations and applications of the SONET Muxes and NMS platform. Work closely with end-users in ensuring the overall satisfaction of the customer installation Provide assistance when needed in the design and deployment of the SONET network. Work independently to fulfill job responsibilities. Travel from site to site independently. End-to-end Product and performance evaluation Assist in data collection for implementations Open Cases within Alcatel-Lucent’s case tracking database, detailing Customer’s issues/questions and your associated response and actions. Resolve Customer product issues through research using appropriate user guides, manuals, product release notes, troubleshooting guide, and other Technical Support Engineers. Troubleshoot complex telecom issues as required Visit Customer site when product issue can no longer be effectively diagnosed remotely. Site visit could include capturing more information such as; statistics, traces, dump files, configuration files, hardware revisions, and software revisions. Responsible for fully understanding the configuration capabilities of the product, generating workarounds to satisfy customer requests, identifying and isolating the occurrence of product anomalies for correction by R&D. Interfaces with customers/managers in the presentation, interpretation and resolution of technical matters; will be involved in the resolution of highly complex technical problems during various phases of a project (staging, pre-cutover, implementation, cut-over). Obtaining and Maintaining Product Knowledge and Expertise Work independent with minimal supervision. Performs other duties as required. *Skills/Experience:* Leadership and mentoring skills Good interpersonal skills Team player The ability to work with little supervisions and make good business decisions Data Expertise required Must be a High Level Engineer having 7 – 10 years in SONET Network design & deployment. Experience with GE Jungle Mux product desirable. Desirable: High Level Engineer having 3-5 years of Alcatel-Lucent 7705 series MPLS router experience in both installations and troubleshooting. Desirable: High Level Engineer having 3-5 years of ALU 5620 SAM experience in both installations and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge in complex converged IP environments Sniffer / network analysis tools Switching knowledge (Spanning Tree and switching methodologies) Background in provisioning and maintenance (debug/diagnostics) of carrier switching/routing equipment Working knowledge of Telco test gear such as TBird testers, Sunrise, etc. Familiar with RFC2544 test routines.
