Enterprise Software  Engineer I

Detroit, MI

Contract position



*Major Duties and Responsibilities*

a. Define, design, build, test, deploy, and support software products

b. Consistently follow the specified software development methodology

c. Elaborate, estimate, and design for small increments of
work…just-in-time

d. Perform root cause analysis, technology evaluation, and design spikes

e. Forecast completing well-defined work and deliver on those forecasts

f. Swarm around tasks along with other Scrum team members

g. Utilize technical skills, creativity and communication skills, with
assistance from team members, to design and document a system that fulfills
customer requirements

h. Test-drive code

i. Pair program with different people in many situations

j. Participates in design walkthroughs

k. Implements test plans, including the creation of test data and the
verification of the test environment

l. Maintains hardware and software in the production environment for
assigned areas

m. Report status of assigned software development and/or maintenance tasks

n. Meet team standards and provide the flexibility to meet future customer
needs

o. Addresses production problems and makes changes to system functionality

About the Advanced Development Software / Systems Engineer role:



The Advance Development Software/Systems Engineer will utilize strong
software development skills in order to design, develop, and deliver
exceptional software solutions within the Advance Development ecosystem.
The Software/Systems Engineer role will encompass working on current and
future Advance Development software components. In this role, the
Software/Systems Engineer should expect to utilize problem solving, written
and oral communication, requirements processing, and software development
skills as both an individual and development team member on a daily basis.

l. Proven experience designing and developing software using Java and Java
constructs in a UNIX environment in one or more of the following domains:

*(1) Enterprise Services - JSE required*

*(2) Web Services – RESTful, XML/JSON, JMS preferred*



*Experience*

a. Likely experience designing 1+ products

b. Likely 2+ years of experience

c. Intermediate regarding skill mastery



*Minimum Qualifications:*



- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other engineering discipline

- At least 3 years of software development experience

- Experience in software development using Java, JEE, C#, ASP.NET, Oracle,
JMS, XML

- Experience with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), software
design patterns

- High level of sound logic and analytical ability where problems are
unusual and complex

- High level of oral and written communication skills

- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others



*Preferred Qualifications*:



• In-depth knowledge of common data structures and their properties

• In-depth knowledge of number bases: binary, hexadecimal, octal, decimal,
etc...

• Continues to learn new technologies and applies them to problem solving

• Understanding of OO concepts and proficient in Java 1.7 +

• Knowledge of functional programming a plus
