General requirements:
· Enterprise environment – Greater than 100 servers (mixed)
· If someone has strong experience in SUSE or Redhat they can support the other with minimal training
· Something within last 2-3 years
· Looking for combination of Linux and Solaris
1 - Suse Enterprise Linux Versions 10.x and above (40%)
2 - Redhat enterprise Linux versions 5.x and above (30%)
3 - Solaris 9.x and above (20%)
4 - HPUX 11.23 and above (Optional) (10%)
Supporting Software:
· Enterprise environment – Greater than 100 servers (mixed)
· Strong Veritas clustering and VMware
1 – Symantec (50%)
· Veritas Storage Foundation and Storage Foundation HA
· Veritas Clustered filesystem
2 – Vmware (40%)
3 - Sun zones (native, branded) (10%)
Skills:
- Secure System builds in enterprise environment (greater than 100 servers) using:
· Yast – (SUSE) (45%)
· Jumpstart – (Redhat) (35%)
· Kickstart – (Solaris) (20%)
- Scripting / Programming – Ability to write from scratch as well as read/update/modify existing scripts (day to day basis as required)
· Perl (Key)
· Shell (Bourne , ksh, bash) (Key)
· C, C++ (nice to have)
- Storage / San – understanding – provisioning and managing from server side (UNIX/Linux)
· LVM - Linux
· Sun Volume Manager
· NFS configuration / support
- Patch Management
· SUSE Manager
· Veritas Operations Manager
· Sun PCA – patch manager
-SSH – Day to day usage
-Sudo – Used for privileged access – understanding of how it works and proper way of configuring
-Documentation (Technical) – ability to update documentation with clear information (tied to builds and day to day support docs)
-Performance tuning – Linux/Solaris – Recent experience and understanding
-MS Word / Excel
-Familiar with ITIL practices
-Samba management
