Duties & Responsibilites :	Client is looking for a contractor to join the Mainframe Network Software team. This is a two year contractor position. This person will work from the Rolling Meadows, IL location. Start date will be whenever we find the correct match. - This person will be responsible for design, implementation, maintenance and usage of mainframe network applications and systems. - They will also perform troubleshooting and diagnostics of the network internal to the Mainframe. - They will not support network or network devices outside of the Mainframe (no routers or switches). - This person must have deep knowledge of Mainframe TCPIP, SNA, VTAM and Enterprise Extender. - Optional working knowledge of the following 3rd party products but can teach if necessary: - Connect:Direct File Transfer (IBM product that transfers files from the Mainframe to another 'party') - Netview (IBM product for troubleshooting SNA network connections) - Netmaster (Computer Associates product for troubleshooting TCPIP network connections) - Supersession (IBM Mainframe Session Manager) - VPS (Levi, Ray, & Shoup product to print from the Mainframe) This person will participate in an our oncall rotation for 1 week each month. This includes daytime, overnight and weekend support not only for oncall but for any production implementations that are required. -Provides IT systems support that may include duties such as installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing. -Also performs quality assurance processes to effectively manage system availability and improve operations. -Includes high-level support of networks, such as administration, builds and upgrades, domain configuration, and performance and tuning.  Also includes network administration. -Deep knowledge of Mainframe TCPIP and VTAM and Enterprise Extender. -Working knowledge of 3rd party products VPS, Supersession, BCSS, Netview, Netmaster, and Connect:Direct File Transfer. -Will participate in overnight and weekend support. Service Experience -5+ years experience with Financial Services clients -Oversight -Coordinating others work while involved with multiple work streams Related experience Deep knowledge of diverse systems and platforms and exposure to new and emerging technologies Mission Criticality: Demonstrated experience working on mission critical customer facing transaction systems Troubleshooting: Advanced demonstration of diagnostic skills across a broad number of technologies and platforms Communication: Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels; Demonstrated ability to work with and coordinate efforts amongst multiple outside third parties; Ability to influence multiple levels on highly technical issues and challenges
