Main Duties 


The Oracle L3 DBA reports into the Database Service Delivery Manager. This role 
holds accountability for database service projects and production support to 
Personal and Corporate Banking, Investment Bank, Barclaycard and Africa. 


·         


Ownership and leadership of technical resolution for high severity production 
incidents ( Sev 3 high, Sev 2 and Sev1 )


·         


Adherence to Barclays standards for change control, database security and 
database patterns.


·         


Lead technical team in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises


·         


Define operational procedures and documentation


·         


Provide on-call rota support where required


·         


Lead and define database delivery requirements for Service Improvement Unit 
initiatives


·         


Design and lead  
internal projects and deliveries aligned with the Database roadmap


 


Leading / development (20%)


·         


Support the product owner in developing the database roadmap.


·         


Identify new technologies and services to transform the database environment


·         


Mentor the global technical team to build a high-performing technical delivery 
environment


 



 



Person Requirements 


·         


Must have 9+ Years of experience. Investment Banking experience is highly 
desired.


·         


Proven experience as lead technician supporting major or critical applications  
           



·         


Experience in leading and mentoring diagnosis and resolution of technical issues


·         


Expert in performance tuning and technical incident reviews 


·         


Resolves critical incidents and problems and fluently applies escalation and 
notification procedures to leadership. 


·         


Can define and document specific techniques for incident / problem resolution 
and for proactive database management


·         


Experienced with owning change planning, communication and approvals for 
significant changes / upgrades


·         


Collaborates and communicates well with partner teams – application run and 
build, service management, incident management, server and storage          
     



·         


Expert knowledge of database administration on distributed platform


·         


Knowledge of the ITIL framework, vocabulary and best practices


·         


Expert in working with Vendor technical support staff, including vendor 
development teams


·         


Expertise in defining technical plans and procedures


·         


Expert in multiple versions of oracle – 9i, 10g, 11g, 12c plus strong working 
knowledge of at least one other database technology Expert knowledge of RMAN, 
Dataguard, OEM, Audit Vault, plus third-party products such as Foglight, 
Precise, Imperva 


·         


Demonstrable experience of database performance tuning and capacity management 
on critical customer-facing systems and high-volume payments services


·         


Experience of working in a highly regulated environment and the associated 
processes and tools


·         


Have a strong working knowledge of Barclays infrastructure components and the 
processes required to maintain the infrastructure


·         


Have a good understanding of the business areas and application / service 
components used and an appreciation of applications from both a technical and 
business perspective. 


·         


The successful candidate will be well-organised and communicate clearly, with a 
passion for service delivery and will posess personal qualities to drive 
forward the global technical environment and services provided. They remain 
calm under pressure and are confident in leading activities and engaging
