Infrastructure to be considered is implemented on IBM P770 and P795 series systems running AIX. The need here is to address incidents, project work, seeding of AIX infrastructure. Help mentor and train current staff on AIX. The AIX Systems Engineer will be providing internal supplementation and training – supporting the Core pieces of the business (transaction databases for PayPal – Oracle RAC environment running with AIX and Hitachi storage on the backend). They will assist in cross-training a team of Solaris-focused Admins on AIX hardware. Must be intimately familiar with hardware platforms as well as AIX. Will be interacting with the Oracle DBAs regarding RAC, Infiniband, and need to be somewhat savvy with Oracle P series systems. Will be training a team of Solaris Admins to get familiar with AIX. Tasked with day-to-day operations of the environment and becoming familiar with PayPal internal systems and processes. Would not be a team lead, but will be responsible for training fellow team members on AIX. Will backfill the day-to-day RTB stuff for database hiccups and provide recommendations. Will participate in troubleshooting and implementations of AIX. Should be familiar with terms of how to manage IBM as a vendor/how to work with a VAR/managing the environment as well. * Business challenge: All the back-end payment processing systems sit on the AIX hardware, so if the AIX systems go down, the largest form of revenue for the company is affected. Team Details: 10 people- storage and systems engineers Top Required Skills: 5-7 years of IBM AIX- P systems series experience Available after hours for upgrades and assist on-call Ability to Lead team 1. 5-7 years of IBM AIX OS support (knowledge of fundamentals and distinct characteristics of AIX) 2. Intimate knowledge of P systems series hardware 3.
