-The Cognos Senior Developer/Modeler is responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry best practices and in accordance with client's software development project methodology and the creation of BI solutions with the use of the Cognos suite of tools.
-The Cognos Senior Developer/Modeler will lead the design and development of Cognos related framework manager models.
-This includes a feasibility review of the development effort for new requirements, identification of risks, and time estimation of coding effort, along with leading the design and development of reports, dashboards and cubes.
-Development activities will include configuration updates to existing software and/or developing new programs/models to address a particular business need.
-The Cognos Senior Developer/Modeler will obtain an understanding of the infrastructure and configuration of the existing Cognos environments.
-In addition to writing code this role will coach junior developer team members, while working closely with architects to ensure code alignment with design patterns/frameworks of all code deployed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT related discipline or equivalent experience
- 7-10 years' experience with developing complex Cognos framework manager models and reports in large, global organizations
- Strong familiarity with Cognos Transformer modeling
- Hands-on development experience with Cognos BI
- Proficient in SQL
- Experience with Cognos System Administrator module
- Strong understanding of Cognos BI architecture and application performance tuning
- Ability to work in a high paced, multiple vendors global environments
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and debugging skills, with strong ability to quickly learn and comprehend business processes and problems in order to effectively develop technical solutions to their requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cognos Mobile and Go! Office a plus
- Preferred experience with Agile, Scrum, iterative, or waterfall development and project methodologies
- Preferred experience and familiarity with IT best practices (e.g., CMMI, ISO9000, ITIL, COBIT) and their implications relative to repeatable software development
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired.
