-NCE (CCNP required, Juniper cert(s) required, SP experience required)
-(2) CCNP-level support engineers working under Sr NCE CCIE Lead Engineer, cable MSO experience a big plus.
-Engineer must be well-versed in IOS-XR, 7600s, ASR9Ks and MPLS, P2P VPNs.
-Network Engineer will be responsible for infrastructure and routing design, network strategy (planning/forecasting), implementation, performance engineering, augmentation and optimization of the Converged Regional Area Network (CRAN). This consists of planning, forecasting, implementation, and problem remediation.
-The engineer will also participate with architecture design as well as assist in evaluating new products and services. Performs network problem resolution and aid in the development of technical standards.
-Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
-Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a large Service provider type network.
-Create and document high-level, detailed network designs and IP tracking for the CRAN, as well as for the augmentation of existing networks.
-Generate network configurations to support market augments and CRAN designs.
-Assist in the development and implementation planning for the roll out of future hardware and software versions of CRAN devices.
-Take a lead role on assigned interdepartmental technical projects
-Provide last tier On-Call support, focused on isolating and resolving network outages
-Build relationships with assigned markets through regular communication and site visits
-Provide technical training to operational units on CRAN technologies and features that are currently deployed in the network or will be in the future
-Work independently with little supervision while managing assigned projects and ensuring timely delivery of services
-Communicate applicable design guidelines and provide guidance to markets to ensure compliance
Skills:
Specific Experience:
-At least 5 years direct Service Provider experience focused on design and routing expertise, forecasting, and implementation of IP router based high-speed technology.
Expert level understanding and working experience in layer 3 routing protocols – OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, QoS and IPv4 uni-cast.
-Strong understanding of Multi-cast/PIM/IGMP, MPLS and IPv6 is required
-Specific knowledge of Cisco and Juniper routers, especially the 7600, CRS and ASR series as well as the Juniper MX series routers is required.
-Knowledge of VoIP technology and standards (e.g. SIP, COPS, SCTP, MGCP) a plus
-Experience implementing DSCP based ACL’s
-Solid written and verbal communication skills
-Demonstrated initiative to build relationships both internally and externally with minimal supervision/direction from management
-Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects as well as to lead small, directed projects.
Certification(s):
-Current Cisco Professional (CCNP) level certification
-Current Juniper (JNCIS) certification
-Entry level certifications are NOT acceptable.
Education:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
-The equivalent in related work experience and self-study may be substituted.
