*Note : Must Be Local To NY Only…!!!!!!!* *Jobtitle : Sr. Java Developer* *Location : NYC, NY* *Duration : 6-24 Months Contract* Leading pension management firm in New York City is looking for a Senior Java/J2EE Developer with strong WebSphere experience for a 6 month consulting assignment. *Day in the Life:* Design, Develop, Test, Debug, Document and Support web-based J2EE applications using Struts2, Spring and JPA in accordance with system architecture requirements Apply industry standard object-oriented programming best practices and J2EE design patterns Participate in peer code reviews and adhere to SDLC principles, standards and practices Participate in technology/tools evaluation and technical proof-of-concepts using Java EE technologies Plan, initiate and conduct unit testing of applications as well as facilitate system testing Support and troubleshoot production applications, and perform ongoing maintenance to codebase and associated management tools Understand system performance issues associated with the introduction of new technologies and recommend solutions Analyze, research, evaluate and recommend new procedures and technical solutions to improve the supported systems and to implement agile, efficient and cost effective software applications Building reusable code structure and building blocks using Struts2/Java technologies and improving the development productivity *What Gets You the Job:* 5+ years of experience with expert knowledge of Java, preferably Java 5 (J2SE and J2EE) with Struts2 and Spring 3.0. Development of J2EE applications on WebSphere on Linux. Strong familiarity with J2EE design patterns, software architecture concepts and web application security. Excellent object-oriented programming skills, strong analytical and design skills Knowledge and understanding of relational database design and programming using IBM DB2 or equivalent. Strong Process Management and written/oral communication skills. Experience with structured methodologies like Agile, Lean or RUP preferred Experience in test driven development preferred.
