Position Description:  WAN Architect (Senior Level)

The WAN Architect will be part of the team that is responsible for the
development, design, implementation, support, and maintenance of WAN and
MAN architectures.  This individual must be able to coordinate activities
with internal functional and technical teams, and external business
partners to gather business and technical requirements.  Based on these
requirements, he or she will coordinate with other network planning and
implementation teams to define and launch solutions which meet business
needs securely and efficiently.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or  any relevant field of
study
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in planning, implementing and supporting
WAN/MAN MPLS, Metro Ethernet, DWDM, SONET and Internet services
• Fully conversant in IP address and AS number schemes, routing protocols
such as BGP and OSPF, as well as end to end QoS across LAN and WAN
• Familiar with LAN and Datacenter technologies
• Demonstrates strong understanding of project management methodologies
• Experience using Microsoft office applications like  Visio, Excel, and
Word, in order to perform work assignments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Cisco or Avaya certifications a plus
• Project Management Certification a plus
• Extensive experience in leading, instructing, directing, assigning, and
checking the work of others
• Demonstrates ability to communicate in written and verbal form to all
levels of management as well as technical and non-technical business
partners
• Experience implementing LAN / WAN / VOIP/SIP converged networks
• Familiarity with Wireless (3G, 4G/LTE), Firewalls, Load Balancers, and
Server Technologies
• Ability to create complex end-to-end network designs to meet business
needs
• Knowledge of research, design, planning and development of new advanced
network technologies, network components as well as wireless transmission
techniques.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
• Ability to identify risks and establish priorities in a changing
environment
• Works effectively both independently and in a team based environment

Roles Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities include:
• Architect and implement solutions for the Wide Area Network and
Metropolitan Area Network
• Work with internal teams and business partners to gather technical
requirements pertaining to projects and business objectives
• Define the strategy and design for future WAN/MAN solutions to meet
business requirements
• Project management role that includes managing  project budget and costs,
develop project plan and schedule for deployment of the solution, and
closure of projects
• Communicate and coordinate with internal technical teams and third party
vendor teams to complete WAN/MAN configuration and installation
• Fill out ICT internal templates to write projects for approval; submit
purchase requests; Obtain quotes and order circuits
• Write/update design drawings, relevant documentations, and procedures
• Provide Level 3  support to WAN related incidents and problems
• Utilize internal systems to communicate and process network related tasks
supporting customer projects
• Evaluate current processes and procedures to identify areas of
improvement, while implementing new processes and procedures to foster
improved resource efficiency
