Here are some points to note based on the candidates we have seen to date.
I am also attaching a full job description for your reference as well.



a)      For the last couple weeks we weren’t getting the candidate we want.
They are heavy on performance testing tools. Very less to no experience
with hands on coding experiences. This was the main issue.

b)      Hence we have added more clarity and specific qualifications on how
much Java experience candidate would need at a minimum.

*1.       **Minimum 7+years of prior “hands-on” development experience
using technologies such as Java/JEE, Groovy, Spring, Maven. *

*2.       **5+ years of development experience in Web-based application,
Database, Webservices, API’s, Batch/ETL components. Should have very good
understanding of various application tiers and middle-ware in a web-based
development environment. *

*3.       **3+ years of experience using one or more performance monitoring
tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, appdynamics, Jmeter etc)*

c)       Responsibilities bullet:

1.       Responsible for identifying performance tuning opportunities by
reviewing Java code written by other developers, configuration files, SQL
queries and make recommendations to other developers in the team.

2.       Explore new tools and utilities to automate performance testing,
results analysis and debugging process.

3.       Automate test data setup for performance testing and repeatability
of the test.

4.       Responsible for bottleneck isolation using smart monitoring tools
such as Dynatrace, SiteScope, Splunk, Appdynamics, jmeter etc



*Primary responsibilities will include: *

   - Partner with Developers, DBA’s, Enterprise Architects, Shared Services
   teams, Performance Engineers and Product Managers to develop robust
   performance testing approach for a web-based application.
   - Responsible for identifying performance tuning opportunities by
   reviewing Java code written by other developers, configuration files, SQL
   queries and make recommendations to other developers in the team.
   - Explore new tools and utilities to automate performance testing,
   results analysis and debugging process.
   - Automate test data setup for performance testing and repeatability of
   the test.
   - Responsible for bottleneck isolation using smart monitoring tools such
   as Dynatrace, SiteScope, Splunk, Appdynamics, jmeter etc.
   - Monitor application/infrastructure performance, document issues by
   collaborating with other Developers/DBA/Other Engineers to identify
   performance issue resolution.
   - Generate periodic test reports showing performance test results
   comparing to the target performance goals.
   - Come up with innovative ideas/suggestions to resolve complex
   performance issues/defects
   - Present test results and recommendations to project teams and
   Business/IT leaders.
   - Participate and provide input in system analysis, design walkthroughs
   and Code reviews
   - Comply with standards of the software development life cycle and agile
   processes.
   - Meet or exceed all defined target test goals and milestone dates for
   the project in order to ensure its overall success.

*Qualifications*

*Requirements:*

   - Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
   - Minimum 10+ years of Software development experience in a web
   application environment.
   - Minimum 7+years of prior “hands-on” development experience using
   technologies such as Java/JEE, Groovy, Spring, Maven.
   - 5+ years of development experience in Web-based application, Database,
   Webservices, API’s, Batch/ETL components. Should have very good
   understanding of various application tiers and middle-ware in a web-based
   development environment.
   - 3+ years of experience using one or more performance monitoring tools
   (Dynatrace, Splunk, appdynamics, Jmeter etc)
   - 3+ Years of hands-on development experience with PL/SQL, XML/JSON,
   Flat/Delimited files, MQ messages, EDI X12 files.
   - 3+ years of hands-on development experience with UNIX.
   - Exposure to incremental agile software development methodologies.
   Prior experience in working closely with Developers and Architects in
   solving software performance issues.
   - Strong troubleshooting and reasoning skills; the ability to debug and
   resolve difficult technical problems.
   - Ability to work independently.
   - Ability to anticipate problems proactively and take appropriate
   actions to mitigate negative impact.
   - Experience in creating and implementing performance test
   methodologies, processes, and innovative smart tools.

*Preferred: *

   - Prior experience with Load Runner, QTP, Spock, Selenium and other
   automation testing tools.
   - Prior experiences working with EDI X12 (274, 834, 837, 278) files is a
   plus.
   - Healthcare industry experience.
