Overview: The role of the Systems Engineer III (Linux/Unix) is to role is to design and deploy system solutions to meet the requirements of core organizational functions, as well as evaluate and recommend technologies required to meet those requirements. This individual will provide the highest levels of support to ensure the availability, reliability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems that support the enterprise applications. The Systems Engineer III (Linux/Unix) will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues and drive to root cause of system outages in a complex enterprise environment. The position demands someone who is highly technically competent, detail oriented, and self-motivated to conduct design and support of systems infrastructure. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices, and procedures. Responsibilities: • Manage a queue of work requests to meet service levels and KPI objectives. • Design and deploy new platforms and enhancements to existing infrastructure, software, and operating systems. • Review technical requirements, establish project milestones and tasks and determine level of effort estimates for their completion. • Deploy and maintain Linux/Unix and Microsoft Servers, Storage Arrays, VMWare infrastructure and related technologies. • Troubleshoot and repair complex computer system issues for Servers, Active Directory, VMWare, application services and end-user issues while working within an enterprise environment. • Conduct research on system platforms, architecture designs, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the enterprise computing industry. • Establish and implement policies, procedures and technologies to ensure security and integrity of the enterprise compute environment. • Develop and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the organization’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records. • Perform all work in a manner to ensure interoperability and maintain compliance of enterprise computing systems Processes: • Implement solutions and test performance, capacity and prepare and deliver performance statistics and reports. • Respond to emergency system outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans, assisting other departments as required. • Provides recommendations to senior or executive IT management regarding product/vendor selection, technology evolution, and design strategies. • Effective collaboration skills to work with business partners, architects and technical peers to ensure reliable integration of systems and software for fulfilling business objectives and processes. • Understand and abide by Incident, Problem and Change management processes and procedures. • Provide root cause analysis and develop and execute corrective action plans for resolution of complex technical issues related to platform and service performance disruptions. • Performs other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Education: • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or similar technical program or acceptable industry and work experience Experience: • 5+ year’s demonstrable experience in the design, implementation, and support of infrastructure systems, applications, and related technologies. • Extensive experience with Linux server operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft platforms, VMware and related technologies. • Experience designing and implementing high availability solutions such as: clustering, data replication, dynamic resource allocation, and related procedures • Experience working in a highly regulated environment (MICS, PCI, SOX) • Training and experience with ITSM practices. • Effective collaboration skills tormentor network, storage, database, telephony and other technical staff to ensure reliable integration of systems and processes. • Flexibly to adapt to a changing environment while under pressure • Strong customer service orientation. • Must be a self-starter that is reliable, punctual, and consistent with excellent organizational and documentation skills • Senior-level systems administration skills with Linux (specifically RHEL/CentOS) • Strong scripting skills for automation and day to day problem solving • Strong understanding of Linux kernel fundamentals, Linux kernel customization for low-latency and real-time systems, Linux kernel tuning, and Linux kernel debugging. • Extensive understanding of system and application troubleshooting, application to OS interaction, debug info collection, and use of OS tracing and profiling tools. • Documented expertise with system and storage configuration, security principles, and maintenance best practices. • Advanced competence with monitoring tools, techniques, alerting and notification processes. • Advanced competence with monitoring tools, PowerShell and other scripting tools. • Expertise with fault isolation, testing procedures, and data mapping tools Shalin Patel Sr. IT Recruiter Cyber Search, Ltd [email protected] Hangout:[email protected] -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "American Vendor--IT Consulting" group.
