MUST HAVES:
Manager will take someone with 3-5 years of experience (so mid to senior
level candidates). *Candidates must be local and have the ability to
interview in person.* Contract will be for 6 months initially and will be
extended as needed.
*Primary Skills:* HTML5, Java (not java script – they need to have your
plain native java experience – i.e. vanilla java), CSS3
*Secondary Skills:* SASS, LESS, Bootstrap and responsive design
Everything else on the job description would be a bonus
Will be working in a very collaborative environment so softs skills are
important, they should also be someone who can stand up and speak if they
think something could be done differently (should have conviction in their
ideas, concerns and the ability to voice them to the team). The individual
scrum teams consist of 2 Software Engineers, 2 front end developers and 2
QAs. The entire engineering team consists of about 35 engineers and is
very collaborative, if the candidate hires is a mid level developer they
will have Sr. level developers to mentor them.
Job Description:
*Position responsibilities: *
- Take an active role in the development projects for the website, both
large and small, throughout the various phases of the project life cycle.
Assess new initiatives to determine the work effort and estimate the
necessary time-to-completion.
- Lead and mentor other team members to develop shared best practices
and development standards.
- Maintain existing code and functionality once it is assimilated into
the ongoing operations of the Web business.
· An interest in sharing knowledge about new technologies with the
team and facilitating the implementation of such technologies across
projects.
- Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and
external customers; gets first hand customer information and uses it for
improvements in products and services; talks and acts with customers in
mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and
gains their trust and respect.
- Development with cross-browser/cross-device compatibility in a graded
browser support environment.
- Document new development, procedures or test plans as needed.
- Participate in Web data builds and deployment efforts.
· Working knowledge of .NET and an understanding of classes and
inheritance as well as the principles of code-reuse in object-oriented
programming.
- Working in an Agile development cycle using advanced Scrum
methodologies.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
*Essential skills, knowledge and abilities:*
· 6+ years’ expertise writing semantic HTML5/HTML and CSS3/CSS.
· 6+ years’ expertise writing clean, unobtrusive JavaScript/AJAX
including experience with common libraries (jQuery, Angular, Bootstrap,
etc.) and debugging tools (Firebug, Fiddler, etc.).
· Expertise with LESS and/or SASS CSS preprocessors.
- Expertise with Bootstrap and Adaptive/Responsive development
techniques.
· Experience with single page application (SPA) and mobile
development.
- Experience with object-oriented coding; version/source control, bug
tracking, and workflow applications/tools.
- Experience with HTML5 APIs (like canvas, local storage, etc.)
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in front-end
architecture, including performance, accessibility and usability.
· Familiarity and comfort with command-line applications and task
runners (like Grunt/Gulp).
· Solid problem solving, technical troubleshooting, and
decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication, initiative and
teamwork.
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or *four
to six years *related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic
programming in 3rd and 4th generation languages, relational databases, and
operating systems) and intermediate software packages (word processing,
spreadsheet, graphics, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to
write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively
before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of
measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to
compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but
uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems
involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
*Non-essential skills, knowledge and abilities: *
· Experience working with ASP.NET MVC4 Razor
· Experience working in an Agile environment
· Has a good eye for design and layout.
