*OVERALL SUMMARY – BACKGROUND & POSITION DESCRIPTION*

The Data Analyst role will support Business Analytics and
Reporting/Visualization teams by analyzing business data requirements,
defining specifications, and applying those specifications to how data is
collected, cleansed and processed as well as ensuring accuracy of data.



Utilizing the Data Lab environment which integrates a “Big Data” toolset
(eg., Hadoop, KNIME, ParAccel Dataflow, Actian Matrix, etc.) the Data
Analyst will use KNIME to create required data flows. This position
requires hands on development of the data processes to take raw data and
apply business transformation / QA rules to create clean data sets used by
the business. They will provision the processed data into tables, views,
and queries that enable the Business Analytics and Reporting/Visualization
teams to build their products for the clients.

*KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY*

The Data Analyst will partner closely with the business teams to:

   - Document business data rules and client requirements in specifications
   for data transformation processes and outputs.
   - Translate business requirements to technical specs for data flow
   development.
   - Establish and automate processes to validate data (QA), identify root
   causes of data quality issues, and work with the source of the errors to
   resolve at point of entry. Escalate to senior management when issues
   prevent resolving quality at the source.
   - Manage expectations around the capabilities of the data flow
   processing tools.
   - Prioritize (with business and technology leadership), coordinate,
   implement and communicate changes to the marketing data flows.
   - Work with internal business teams and external providers to validate
   that work is done properly. Review changes with vendor partners (data
   providers) and internal teams to ensure requirements are met.
   - Work proactively with external data providers and database vendors to
   ensure data is clearly defined and remains consistent. It is essential that
   the data be defined and organized correctly to support back-end
   organization of data and front-end accessibility by end-users.
   - Coordinate new data feeds and updates to existing data feeds with
   internal and external partners.
   - Design, develop and run ad hoc queries and reports as requested to
   provide data to answer business questions and to verify report and database
   development.
   - Ensures quality for their assigned projects.

*EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:*

   - Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or
   equivalent with demonstrated professional experience in these areas.
   - 3+ years’ experience working in “Big Data” environments.
   - Comprehensive understanding of relational databases and familiarity
   with complex data structures required. Strong understanding of dimensional
   modeling and experience with database and schema design required.
   - Experienced in designing and developing data Extract, Transform and
   Load (ETL) processes.
   - Deep expertise with DataFlow/KNIME or similar data visual studio tools
   (eg, Greenplum, Google Big Query, etc.) required.
   - Experienced working with distributed computing within the Hadoop
   technology stack.
   - Experienced with columnar based databases and MPP required (eg,
   ParAccel, Actian Matrix, Amazon Redshift, etc.).
   - Exposure to Business Intelligence and Visualization solutions such as
   Tableau a plus.
   - Proven ability to translate business needs into technical
   specifications, and to independently research and solve complex technical
   problems.
   - Experience working with diverse data sets required. Experience working
   with Media and Advertising industry data sets highly advantageous, with
   emphasis on Digital Media Performance. Experience working with Industry
   and/or Macro Economic data (eg, Weather, Census, Geo-location, etc.) and
   Client data (eg, Marketing and Sales data) a plus.
