Req Technical skills:
*Design Engineer III (MongoDB/Oracle)*
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Manage and maintain Mongo DB servers across multiple environments.*
*Design & implement sharding and indexing strategies.*
*Monitor deployments for capacity and performance Implement and maintain
MMS (mongo DB Management Services).*
Define and implement backup strategies per data retention requirements.
Develop and document best practices for data migration, excellent coaching
and mentoring skills.
Automate routine tasks with your own scripts and open-source tools
Solve production problems and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation
Improve database backups and test recoverability regularly and overall
performance of the DB (especially sharding)
*Study the database needs of applications and optimize them using MongoDB
and NoSql.*
Maintain database performance and capacity planning
Write documentation and collaborate with technical peers online
*QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: *
*In-depth understanding of MongoDB HA strategies, including replica sets
and sharding.*
*Has configured and monitored numerous MongoDB and NoSQL instances (On
Linux environment) - mongodb 2.4/2.6*
Strong knowledge of Change, Release, Incident, and Problem management
Experience with MongoDB scaling across data centers.
Coding skill with at least one of Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby or Java
Solid knowledge of MongoDB and other NoSQL database concepts
Minimum of 2 years of Linux proficiency (as a power user and administrator)
Experience with modern 24x7 web production environments is a plus
Experience with database replication and scaling issues is a big plus
Willingness to work flexible / odd hours (as needed)
