*Description: TeraData DBA* *Lansing, MI* *12 months* Overview: Responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and administering data structures and data processes required to meet data warehouse business objectives. Client is seeking an individual who selected their primary skill as Administration –Teradata Databases. The consultant must have extensive experience in administering databases (Logical and Physical RDBMS design, database security, database architecture, b ackup/recover, database tuning and space management)…Should have an understanding of Client/Server applications desirable as well as familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts desirable Requirements: 1. Must have 5-10 years of Teradata database administration and structured development methodology inclusive of the following:T o Teradata SQL, strong Teradata performance and tuning Capacity planning, Performance Tuning, Monitoring and management o Teradata Data Warehouse development strategies (bteq, procedure, macros) o Proficiency with meta data, data modeling and data quality tools o Documentation creation and maintenance of procedures o Provides support for application projects including capacity planning and application integration. o Build/upgrade, tune, backup and restore Teradata databases o Support development, test, and production Teradata databases including concurrent development efforts 2. Ability to understand business needs, analyze business cases, extract requirements to order develop leading edge data warehouse designs 3. Updates and communicates project status to management, team members, and other supporting vendors 4. Mentors and educates colleagues with respect to database design and implementation practices 5. Develop / maintain data models and leads database code reviews 6. Participate in weekly on-call rotation 7. Follow and contribute to organization best practices 8. Support emergency, interim, and full system releases 9. Participate in a 24 X7 weekly on call rotation 10. Experience with the full project lifecycle from conception to implementation and support 11. Excellent communication and teamwork skills - works well with diverse teams and independently 12.
