Client is Searching for an advanced engineer in Microsoft System Center
Operations Manager 2012 R2 (SCOM / MOM). The engineer is expected to
develop the Client’s SCOM platform, ensure reliability, and expand
monitoring capabilities of operations in a complex organization.

• Ability to design and deploy SCOM

o Design and deployment, of soon to be released, SCOM 2016 version

o Two management groups with ability to cross monitor each other's health.

o Monitoring systems in an untrusted forest and non-joined systems in a DMZ
(In computer security <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_security>, a
*DMZ* or *demilitarized zone* (sometimes referred to as a *perimeter
network*) is a physical or logical subnetwork
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subnetwork> that contains and exposes an
organization's external-facing services to a larger and untrusted network,
usually the Internet. The purpose of a DMZ is to add an additional layer of
security to an organization'slocal area network
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_area_network> (LAN); an external network
node <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_node> only has direct access to
equipment in the DMZ, rather than any other part of the network.)

o Understand use of gateway servers and certificate deployments in
untrusted zones

o Deployment of agents and consoles as well as update rollups through
System Center Configuration Manager

• Extensive knowledge of run as profiles and accounts; including low
privilege scenarios and account distribution

• Advanced experience in authoring management packs:

o Prefer authoring in Visual Studio and Silect Software's MP Studio.

o Understanding how to create management pack bundles

o Integrate PowerShell scripts for discovery, monitoring and tasks in
management packs

o Implement and leverage use of property bags with PowerShell

o Leverage discovery of registry values into object class and group

o Ability to inherit, not just simply extend, an existing class into new
class

o Create and maintain dashboards

• Management Pack Controls

o Design Methodology of MP version control, importing and piloting.

o Understand how to seal custom authored management packs

o Implement management packs, controls and administration roles to prevent
changes by one administration group impacting systems outside their scope.

• Create and maintain distributed applications according to service
monitoring needs and service level agreements

• Support and encourage collaboration across multiple teams

• Identify and integrate strengths of other monitoring solution including
Dell Spotlight, vRealize Operations (vR Ops) and What's up Gold.

• Provide general mentoring for troubleshooting service and server
performance Issues Other responsibilities include: Provide support for
escalated issues from help desk and administration teams. Engage in daily
system and service monitoring; verifying availability of all hardware,
server resources, SCOM workflows, agent health and transaction monitoring.
Support SCOM infrastructure health, backups and general troubleshooting.
Research and develop new approaches for SCOM tasks and automation. General
knowledge of System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and System Center
Orchestrator (SCORCH). Leverage basic knowledge of SCCM application
deployment including SCOM agents, Management Group Assignment, SCOM
console, automate console connection to one or more management groups,
deployment of additional applications required to support the SCOM console
(SQL Management Studio for example) and coordination of update rollups.
Understand wbem in Microsoft Operating Systems, how to create WMI custom
classes with associated providers, particularly the registry provider, use
of PowerShell to manage custom classes, basic WMI troubleshooting skills
and provide general WMI support for other administrative teams. Basic
knowledge of SCORCH and its integration with SCOM.
