This is a Sr hadoop test engineer
The Hadoop Test Engineer is responsible for test planning and
execution for all BCUS’s Hadoop technology solutions
• Drive innovation in test strategy and methodology
• Ensure success of continuous integration and quality control
• Ensure high-quality solutions
• Establish quality assurance standards and best practices for
Hadoop testing.
Key Accountabilities & approximate time split (%)
(Ideally 4-10 points, or headings with sub-points. Quantify where possible
e.g. cost/income budget, no of subordinates, likely no of yrs/mths to
complete longest task. Could note key external/internal lateral
relationships) Delivery
o Review requirements and design specifications with an emphasis
towards product testability
o Develop Hadoop test strategies with developers, and team members
o Design and execute manual testing
o Ensure traceability of testing across all layers and test types
o Manage test data
o Identify and report risks associated with development and delivery
o Identify, implement, manage and report appropriate metrics
o Work with the Quality Assurance organization to ensure established
procedures, standards and processes are utilized consistently
o Maintains quality standards for own work; detail-oriented
o Develop and sustain positive relationships with peers
Administration
o Manage the adherence and quality of all Administrative
responsibilities according to prescribed timelines including:
§ Performance Development Process (FTE only)
§ Timesheets
§ Information Security Training and Acceptable Use Policy submissions
o Support Quality Assurance goals
o Adhere to all Barclays, Barclaycard, BCUS and BTG standards,
policies and governance practices
Person Specification
(Personal attributes essential to performing role: e.g. skills,
competencies, expertise, knowledge, experience. Note: experience not to be
time-bound) Required
• Best qualified candidate must have minimum five years of testing
on large software systems, including front and back end systems
• BS/BE/BA in Computer Science
• Excellent testing planning skills
• Excellent leadership skills; ability to drive quality initiatives
• Good SQL knowledge and able to create and work with databases
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Excellent team player with ability to work with multiple stake
holders
• Excellent ability to deliver under pressure
• Solid organizational skills with proven ability to multi-task,
handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and effectively bring
discussions and issues to closure
• Solid project management skills, including ability to coordinate,
negotiate, schedule and communicate with all levels of staff
• Basic knowledge of Oracle databases, SQL, Linux (Redhat
preferred), any scripting or programming language (bash, shell, perl)
• Some hands on experience in writing MapReduce jobs in Java, Pig,
or Hive
• Some exposure to data science languages like SAS, R, or Python
Desired
• End-to-end testing and regression experience
• Domain background of Banking / Credit Card industry
• Experience with Application Lifecycle Management tools such as HP
ALM
• In-depth knowledge of quality management methodologies,
principles, metrics and tools.
• Experience with TSYS
