Role:Senior WAN Engineer Location: Reston, VA Duration:Contract Candidates for this role MUST have a minimum 5 years’ experience providing implementation and technical support of networking products in LAN, WAN, or Internet services environments.
1. Strong background in providing implementation and technical support of networking products in an enterprise environment 2. Experience in service provider world is highly desired. 3. Lab Configuration, testing and deployment support in LAN/WAN/Mobile Backhaul networks. 4. Juniper MX/PTX, Cisco ASR/CRS/GSR platform with detailed knowledge about implementing IP routing for both IPv4 and IPv6. 5. A detailed understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills should include: a. TCP/IP fundamentals, b. IP sub-netting and super-netting and hierarchical routing principles, c. Routing protocol (OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP-4) operation, migration, and scaling mechanisms, d. Routing policies at BGP peering points, e. VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (L2TP, MPLS, etc.), 6. Strong background and understanding of all MPLS, IGP and failover features/technologies. 7. For lab support position, tasks to include configuration conversion (From IOS/XR to JUNOS), interoperability testing and certification of various services/solutions.Senior WAN Engineer 8. Hands-on configuration and troubleshooting skillsets on JUNOS are required, and Cisco IOS/XR desired. 9. Additional important tasks include creating comprehensive documentation on Testing results, Sprint MOPs, Design Documents etc. 10. Knowledge and practical experience with scripting a plus. 11. Knowledge transfer is very key for the customer and will also be an important responsibility for the Engineers. 12. Most importantly, candidate needs to be proactive and with good work ethics. 13. Strong Interpersonal skills. 14. The ability to function in a team environment.
