*Position : Sr. Linux/Unix Engineer (10+ years)* *Location : San Jose, CA * *Duration : 12+ Months* *Interview : Phone then Face to Face (Skype possible for right person) * *Job Description* · To ensure seamless operation across all components of the Unix/Linux infrastructure, including installing; configuring, supporting, maintaining, and optimizing hardware and operating systems. · The role involves managing and configuring services to operate within a heterogeneous environment of software and hardware vendors and with a hybrid architecture of 'on premise' and cloud hosted solutions. · This person is expected to contribute to the strategy, design, planning, developing, testing and optimizing of the related infrastructure components. · The role will also require to mentor and act as a center of excellence to all the Unix platform team, assisting them in resolving end user hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, also delivering end user training where required. *Job Responsibilities* · Closely liaison with all teams across IT and the businesses for the Unix infrastructure and support · Capacity management and planning for UNIX Infrastructure · Advanced troubleshooting and an escalation point for UNIX issues · Support Application teams and assisting with complex issues · Build, manage & support servers from an OS perspective · Ensure servers are patched with the latest firmware and OS updates using tools provided · Ensure, with Monitoring team, that all servers are monitored · Design, document and implement policies and procedures for server administration and disaster recovery · Ensure, with backup service group, that all servers are backed up appropriately · Monitor and test server and network performance and fine tune the environment as needed · Provide performance statistics and reports · Recommend, schedule, and perform regular server upgrades, repairs and replacements · Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team. · Work at a strategic level with project managers and architecture team influencing, designing and delivering service improvements and business change · Works at a strategic level with external suppliers & partners as appropriate · Demonstrate technical leadership in their area of Infrastructure responsibility *Job Requirement* · Bachelor's' degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or relevant experience · Minimum of 12 year’s experience in Unix/Linux administration, configuration and deployment · Experience in supporting large-scale geographically-distributed infrastructure systems · Linux/Unix, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, Windows, LDAP, Open Source · Advanced trouble shooting techniques and performance tuning · Good UNIX security, hardening techniques and patch management · Knowledge of infrastructure automation through scripting (powershell, shell, etc) · Well aware of emerging technologies and key vendor solutions and roadmaps in the relevant IT domain · Knowledge of ITIL and industry best practices would be a plus · Strong analysis and troubleshooting skills · Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. · Ability to learn quickly · Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. · Works well with others, has strong communication, project and time management skills. · Ability to lead and mentor colleagues · Ability to influence technical and strategic decision making amongst peers · Good documentation skills (Process & Technical) *Regards , * *Kailash Negi* *VSG Business Solutions* *221 Cornwell Dr Bear, DE 19701* *Email ID : [email protected] <[email protected]>* *Phone: 302-261-3207 x 102* -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "American Vendor--IT Consulting" group.
