*Summary:*
We are seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Engineer for SaaS Operations group. This
person will join a team that works to ensure around-the-clock availability
and performance of the company's public-facing SaaS products. They will
work closely with many other parts of the organization including
development, QA and customer support to build and maintain world-class
systems.
*Key Responsibilities*
- Build, deploy, and maintain stability of production and non-production
servers in support of the company's internal applications
- Develop automation recipes for managing our systems infrastructure and
contribute to a continuous delivery pipeline
- Perform problem resolution including root cause analysis of system and
application incidents
- Partner with development team to implement scalable and secure
application configurations
- Act as technology lead or resource as needed in support of new
application and infrastructure projects
- Develop relationships with and work alongside other functional IT
groups such as networking, database and security
- Assist with performance testing and tuning of complex and high-traffic
web applications
- Instrument applications to provide the best possible operational
monitoring and metrics
- Create, update and enhance written processes and documentation with a
focus on ease of understanding and completeness
- Participate in on-call rotation, receiving and responding to daytime
and after-hours alerts
- Provide technical leadership to offshore team
- Identify and evaluate new technologies that can improve products and
processes
*Skills & Qualifications*
- Knowledge of Linux operating system
- Experience with the concept of "infrastructure as code" and
configuration management tools (Chef preferred) in a mission critical
production environment
- Working knowledge of Ruby and Bash scripting languages.
ยท Experience with Load Balancers, Firewalls, Switches.
- Experience with support and performance management of Java/J2EE based
applications
- Familiarity with VMware virtualized systems environments
- Understanding of Agile / Scrum and TDD principles with a focus on
infrastructure
- Advanced knowledge of systems security practices
- Excellent technical troubleshooting experience
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult
situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of users
