The Data Modeler will take a lead position in the modeling and design of new
and re-engineered enterprise-wide Global Capital Markets data warehouses and
data marts.
*Location: NY*
*Pay Rate: 35/hr*

Primary responsibilities include collaborating with business analysts and
business stakeholders in gathering warehouse requirements; data modeling of
the associated business / logical entities; transformation of the logical
model-requirements into a physical data model; and working with DBA teams in
creation of the RDBMS definitions and implementation of the physical
database objects. Scope of responsibility includes establishing and
maintaining modeling and data management standards and management and
dissemination of model and repository based metadata artifacts.

Broad experience in the Global Capital Markets business area is a must.
Knowledge of information processing of the full trade life cycle for Equity,
FI, FX, Repos, Securitizations, Options, Futures, Credit Default Swaps and
other derivative instruments. Experience with modeling and managing Master
Data and Market Reference Data is essential. Credit Risk and Basel II
knowledge a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, including the
ability to analyze and communicate business and technical issues, lead
discussions, and influence decisions; excellent presentation skills and the
ability to tailor each communication for the target audience.

Must be flexible, self-directed, and able to deliver quality data model
products working in a high visibility, fast paced, demanding environment.


Required Skills

* Physical Data modeling in the Global Capital Markets business area is a
MUST
DB2 database tunning.
* Expertise in the creation and maintenance of data models at the
conceptual, logical and physical levels. Master level knowledge of data
modeling concepts.
* Experience in creating quality data models for all types of target
databases: OLTP; warehouse staging; ODS; data marts; and dimensional Star
Schemas.
* Thorough understanding of business analysis techniques and documents
including Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specs, Use Cases,
Business Process Models, DFD, etc.
* Experience with ETL processing (Informatica a plus) and data staging /
cleansing data structures.
* Expertise with SQL and relational database processing (SQL Server and DB2
a plus) including generation of DDL from physical data models.
* Optimizing physical designs (indexes, denormalization, compression,
partitioning) for performance, scalability, availability, recovery and data
integrity.
* Working with QA teams to track data quality, completeness, redundancy, and
integrity.
* Experience in the creation, standardization, distribution and enforcement
of enterprise metadata standards and best practices.
* Senior Level experience with data modeling tools (ERstudio a plus)
including the generation and dissemination of reports, dictionaries, ER
diagrams and other metadata artifacts. Experience with the administration of
shared metadata repositories.
* Proficiency in writing SQL queries to perform data analysis / data
profiling.
