*Role: **Software Architect* *Duration: Long Term* ***Location: Dallas, TX* *Rate: Open** * A number of Strategic Infrastructure projects are currently underway and require additional architecture resource time and expertise not available with existing resources. This position will be responsible for establishing an infrastructure technology road map, life cycle management plan, assist with Infrastructure standards and provide architecture project support for VMWare, E-mail archiving, SharePoint governance. *SUMMARY:* Leads the understanding of functional, informational, and physical architecture of assigned portfolio. Functions as subject matter expert and provides consultation on assigned domain. Provides recommendations on portfolio strategies to management. *ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Collaborates with Business Partners and Enterprise Architects to create and maintain an enterprise functional model for the assigned domain which will document the business processes and system functions Maintains the systems transition roadmap for assigned domain Ensures the quality of the domain repository data and for provides architecture information to the Architecture Solutions Board Ensures that domain architecture adheres to the go-forward architecture product direction and standards through various architecture reviews Serves as mentor to Solution Architects or other less senior architects as appropriate *COMPETENCIES: * In depth knowledge of technical architectural disciplines including: business architecture, systems development lifecycle (SDLC), service oriented architecture (SOA), systems architecture and infrastructure, network and communications architecture, and web architectures In depth knowledge of virtualization strategies, object oriented and component based technologies, current and emerging integration tools, patterns and frameworks, Information and data modeling tools and techniques, security and controls/applicable data privacy practices and laws Understanding of business and technology strategy, and the ability to apply design patterns Ability to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groups Ability to work both independently and with a team with minimal supervision *QUALIFICATIONS **MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: * Bachelors degree with seven to nine years of experience, including two years of management experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. Master's degree is preferred. *SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Hires, trains, evaluates, rewards, and terminates employees. Designs, organizes, prioritizes, schedules, and leads work assignments. Fosters good working relationships with various groups. May lead virtual teams for projects and initiatives as required. *COMMUNICATION SKILLS: *Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, and legal documents Demonstrated ability to prepare and lead presentations to all levels within the company in order to educate, influence, and contribute to strategic technical decisions *MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry *COMPUTER SKILLS: * Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, project management, and diagramming software *ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: * Ability to evaluate, create, draw conclusions, and determine the appropriate course of action in various situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to quickly grasp highly technical concepts. *DECISION MAKING:* Makes decisions regarding establishing and enforcing architecture standards and practices without supervisor approval. *SCOPE AND IMPACT:* Manages project budgets as necessary. *PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* Ability to sit up to 2/3 of the time and to stand, walk, and stoop up to 1/3 of the time. Regularly required to sit, talk and listen for long periods of time. Good vision and ability to adjust focus is required. Manual dexterity is required. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Some travel is required. *WORK ENVIRONMENT:* Office environment.
