Developer with White Box Testing Experience- Needs Web Services Exp

Location:  San Francisco, CA   

 

 

Position Description:  Experience Level: 4 year degree and 7+ years
experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.  

 

This position is to hire a developer to help with both the creation and
execution of a white-box testing methodology for various Web Service
applications supported within the department (3-4 different web apps
including APS and ECPR).  The candidate will be responsible with helping the
testing team validate non-functional components as well as create reusable
test harnesses to help augment testing gaps that the QA testing team using a
black box methodology cannot test directly. The candidate must have a very
strong technical background (strong java development) as well as being
strategic to help design some of the Testing Approach and Processes to
handle the low level details of the application and to determine the best
approach to regression test these components on an ongoing basis.  Note:
Must be willing to work with hours from 10am - 7pm for best overlap with
remote areas.

 

Roles & responsibilities include:

      Quick aptitude to have a solid understanding of the architecture of
the applications and the downstream dependencies through project changes.

o     be able to quickly assess complex changes of the various components of
applications and recommend appropriate testing approach 

o     be able to ask the right questions to develop the right testing suite

      Design and implement solutions to non-functional components (Both
Common components and specific Project Changes) 

      Help define strategy for auditing Deployment and Implementation
scripts so that that do not impact application installs

o     Design needs of various Test Harnesses and other low level test
objectives such as Defensive Coding that cannot be tested by Test Data but
can exist in production

      Help with production Release readiness.including validating Deployment
scripts

      Participate in Code Reviews

      Must also create and Maintain Test Plans

      Other items to be considered:

o     Logging

o     Alarming

o     F5 pings and health checks

o     Startup validation

o     Failover

o     Batch jobs and Autosys

o     Table load at start-up (if loading correctly)

 

Minimum qualification:

      Strong Java development background(4+ yrs)

      Web Services experience (such as TomCat)

      Analytical approach

      Excellent communication - both spoken and written as there will be
remote teams.

      CS degree
