This position will be working full-time on a large new development program
that requires an advanced Data Architect and DBA skillset while also
interacting with the department’s database support team. The program
involves working with several different projects for distinct business
units while also assembling the data in one place for reporting, analysis,
and validation.  All development is being done in a SQL Server/.Net
environment.   Experience in database design and modeling for new
application development is required.

In this position, you will be the face of all things data. You will need to
be able to see the big picture while also able to work though the details
to implement the big picture.  This will involve data migration from other
systems, script development and execution, creating DB backups, database
design and verification, data integrity validation, and interactions with
external stakeholders and customers.  The candidate will have experience
working in a fast-paced environment, with aggressive timelines.  The
project is currently transitioning to agile, so agile experience is a plus.

Initial contract funding is for 1 year, but a longer 3-5 year engagement is
anticipated.

*Responsibilities*

•      Quickly learn and understand the project’s database, tables,
structures and fields from a big picture perspective (across business
functions and project iterations) to provide architectural and decision
support direction.

•      Data Architect

·      Provide a consultative approach with business users, asking
questions to understand the business need and deriving the data flow,
logical, and physical data models based on those needs

·      Analyze data requirements and data stored in a disparate set of
systems and designing a robust relational structure for the future

·      Be accountable for integrity and quality of data, ensuring the
information meets customer needs

·      Ability to proactively participate in customer engagements, follow
direction from lead technicians, work with customers, and participate in
technical planning

·      Plan for collection method, data cleansing, and normalization of
data across multiple applications

·      Understand how the data interacts with the application code

·      Understand  .Net Entity Framework

•      Database Administrator

·      Technical understanding of infrastructure components, their
dependencies, and interactions between servers, virtual systems, networks,
databases, web applications, etc.

·      Perform all database updates, changes and enhancements utilizing and
upholding a formal, structured naming convention

·      Create, maintain, and deploy scripts across all project environments
(Dev/Test/UAT/Prod)

·      Perform and maintain all database backups and database restores
associated with the project across all project environments
(Dev/Test/UAT/Prod)

•      Be accountable for integrity and quality of data, ensuring the
information meets customer needs

•      Perform necessary testing related to the project and its iterations

•      Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects, demonstrate
initiative and work independently with minimal supervision

•      Ability to read, understand and create design documents

•      Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

•      Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language

•      Some overtime may be necessary in order to meet aggressive deadlines

•      Complete other duties as assigned by Project Manager or
Administrative Manager
