Acting independently with minimal direction, supports the management team in providing leadership and technical consulting and expertise in the development, modification, and implementation of highly complex information systems that conform to MST standards and methodology. Translates customer requirements, recommending system solutions and formulating detailed specifications from which programs are written. Provides leadership in the evaluation and recommendation of hardware and software solutions used throughout the industry for use at MST. With extensive technical and business knowledge of all phases of application systems analysis and programming, provides strategic focus on system solutions that may cross MST FOBs. May be responsible for driving multiple phases of a project to completion. Independently researches and resolves technical problems of the highest complexity. May serve in the MST Solutions Framework roles of Development Lead, Project Manager, Testing Advocate, or Operations Advocate. 5 years experience using Teradata Utilities (required) 5 years experience using Teradata SQL (required) 5 years experience using BTEQ 5 years experience understanding MACRO Processing 5 years experience developing UNIX scripts for the loading of data into Teradata Experience with Microstrategy or other BI reporting tools (plus) Experience COBOL(plus) Experience DB2(a plus) Mainframe knowledge (Plus) experience with JCL and Control M a plus Candidate can demonstrate: * Strong data analysis and problems solving skills with focus on attention to detail * Strong understanding of data relationships * Strong problem solving, multitasking and time management skills * Demonstrated ability to translate both business requirements into technical details * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Strong organizational, multitasking, coordination and facilitation skills * Strong listening skills * Requires a team player Responsibilities include: * Responsible for developing Teradata MACROS * May create reporting from application data * Lead technical reviews * Develop technical specifications * Lead other junior developers in coding, unit testing and documentation * Ensure compliance to all process procedures Must quickly understand how Data Warehousing drives and enhances the MST business of its business partners Knowledgeable of Data modeling Ability to assist with requirements gathering Ability to understand how the business requirements of projects affect Data Warehousing Programming experience with one or more development languages (C/C++, .Net, COBOL, etc.) Strong customer focus. Sense of urgency and flexible to changing circumstances and customer needs. Manages customer expectations. Keeps the customer aware of project status, risks and critical issues. Keeps the customer and upper management well informed of concerns for completion of projects on a timely basis. Initiates alternatives for timelier, more efficient completion.
