Java Solution Architect

A Java Architect with a minimum skillset of 5 years "hands on" industry
experience, developing enterprise level application integration solutions
using OOAD concepts and JAVA/J2EE technology is required. The candidate
should have hands on experience in the following technologies ( or similar
technologies) used in building the FOCUS components: JAVA ( specifically
Swing GUI),JMS,JSP, SOA style Web Services, SPRING open source framework,
XML Schema/SOAP, XSL, WSDL, JDBC, SiteMesh, JBOSS, SQL Server DB and Windows
2003. The candidate should be technically very competent and possess
excellent documentation, interpersonal and communication skills. HOW:
Contractor will use state standard software or any software, approved as
exception, that may be required. Tasks: Receive training in APS business
workflow and requirements, from DHS business staff. Receive training in the
APS "FOCUS" system software from DHS IT staff. Access the Focus Application
software code to review and document Java source code/infrastructure,
obvious problems and all web services that interact with the application.
Position will be given appropriate access to servers and software. Assess
how upgrades to Windows, SQL Server, IE would impact the system. Access the
BPM server software, and review the workflow maps with assistance from a
state technical person, and then independently assess how the web services
interacts with and are dependent on the application and web server software,
and record any concerns or obvious issues that might impact the response
time or distributed transactions etc.. . Access and document the Business
Intelligence (BI) SQL Server 2005 software, database structure and OLAP
cubes and determine if there are structural problems. Assess the Focus Java
Script interface to File Net. Document the outcome of the assessment for
each component, in a Word document that is clear, concise, readable and in a
well organized format.  Provide Knowledge Transfer to two DHS IT Java
programmers. The web based FOCUS system supports the Adult Protective
Services (APS) program area, which protects vulnerable adults from abuse and
neglect, some of which are placed in state custody. APS staff statewide,
will depend upon the FOCUS system being operational to provide them with
real time information about referrals to alleged clients who have reports of
abuse or neglect and to critical data about their existing client's cases.
The lack of consistent and reliable performance of the FOCUS system, could
put APS clients at risk and subject DHS to litigation.



REQUIRED SKILLS:

·         5 years of experience must include Providing senior technical
leadership, guidance, and support in the design, development, and deployment
of complex applications in distributed computing environments.  3 years  5
years

·         3 years of experience must include coordinating with other
architectural and technical infrastructure staffs for providing input into
technical decisions affecting specific projects.

·         3 years of experience must include use of current application
architecture design and development concepts, methodologies, and tools
resulting in quality, stable, and maintainable computer software.
