Location : Washington DC Duration : 2 Years - Long term Lead VMWare Engineer Client is seeking a VMware Certified professional (VCP) to upgrade o VMware environment from VMware ESX 3.5 to VMware vSphere 4.1, vCenter server 4.1. The candidate must possess a strong skill set in VMware technologies, SAN technologies; should also have strong experience with networking technologies. Tasks: · Upgrade VMware Management console from 3.5 to vCenter Server 4.1 · Install and configure VMware 4.1 on thee Dell R815 servers and join them to the cluster. · Upgrade seven existing servers to VMware 4.1and join them to the cluster · Configure HA and DRS · Prepare upgrade documentation and hand over to FEP Operations Center at the end of the contract. *Skills –* Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to lead other team members. The candidate has demonstrated a VMware upgrade from 3.5 to 4.1. Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of networking technologies. Experienced oral and written communication skills a must College or vocational/technical degree; Certification in VMware (VCP minimum) 5+ years of VMware ESX hands on experience, 3+ years Storage Area Network (SAN) experience. Interpret new, complex technologies and how these new technologies can be leveraged to benefit the department’s new business strategies and initiatives. Software: 1. VMware ESX 3.5 & 4.1 2.
