Cisco Architect

Location: Chicago, IL

Duration: 6+ months



   - At least 5 years experience detailed Cisco skills, routing and
   switching.
   - At least 3 years experience as a lead engineer or architect.
   - CCIE strong plus, they may struggle without it.
   - Ability to operate autonomously, take ownership of things and lead to
   success.
   - Communicate, work with, influence and build relationships with other
   teams.
   - Will work in a team of 12, with one other architect.



Environment:

Cisco Catalyst 6500 series switches (6509, 6505, 6513).
Enterprise or carrier class Cisco routers such as 12000 series, 7600
series, or CRS (these might appear on a resume with more specific model
numbers such as XR12000, 12016, 12010, 12406, CRS-3, 7604, 7613, etc.)

- Self-motivated /ability to perform autonomously as a mid-level engineer,
escalating to senior engineers and/or project managers as required.
Candidate must be a “doer” who can drive their portion of projects to
successful completion and who can implement and troubleshoot (not just an
architect or idea person).
- Experience implementing, troubleshooting, and supporting large enterprise
networks
- Experience in not only Move/Add/Change tasks on networks but also
significant involvement in project work including collaboration, planning,
and documentation
- 3+ years of experience working on Cisco Catalyst 6500 series switches
(6509, 6505, 6513).
- 3+ years of experience working with enterprise or carrier class Cisco
routers such as 12000 series, 7600 series, or CRS (these might appear on a
resume with more specific model numbers such as XR12000, 12016, 12010,
12406, CRS-3, 7604, 7613, etc.)
- Experience working with both Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area
Networks (LAN)
- routing protocols, specifically EIGRP. BGP would also be very useful.
- Experience with both Windows and Unix environments
- Positive collaborative attitude and strong communication skills
- Experience supporting large scale EIGRP networks
- Experience with non-Cisco vendors (such as Juniper, Foundry, CheckPoint,
Riverbed, F5, RadWare, PaloAlto, etc.)
- Some Cisco Nexus experience
- Some Storage Area Network (SAN) or Network Attached Storage (NAS)
