Please share profiles for this opening. *Title: Business Analyst* *Client: The Northern Trust Company* *Location: Downtown Chicago, IL* *Duration: 6 month contract* *TOP 3 CRITERIA FOR THIS POSITION: *1) individual who can lead discussions with both business and technical stakeholders 2) Can provide structure to analysis tasks and drive (and sometimes negotiate finalization) of project scope 3) Work in highly matrixed, complex environments with multiple stakeholders *Business Requirements Analyst - Data Focus* Has experience in conducting analysis with expertise in different business areas, application wide analysis and proposal of solutions. Assembles, analyzes, and represents customer business requirements. Performs feasibility analysis, scopes project, recommends alternative solutions, project strategy, and deliverable prioritization. Responsible for high level implementation plans, *data and process models*, *cost estimating*, *cost benefits analysis*, and *return on investments*. These resources are also able to facilitate workshops such as JAD, RAD, and DRP sessions, etc. Business Analysts should also be able to perform as a team leader when necessary. *PROJECT-SPECIFIC DETAILS: * The Partner Workstation platform project is to project is a multi-phase, multi-release program to deploy a new platform which will be used by internal Northern Trust service trams to service clients and to enable new sales/marketing initiatives. The project entails sourcing data from multiple *legacy systems* which require business definitions and business understandings new infrastructure and new business processes which will replace existing systems and provide an overall view of client by consolidating data from multiple applications. *Significant examples of expected project work include: *Interpreting business requirements to uncover data requirements for features in CRM systems, data requirements for client reporting, data requirements for financial systems, etc. •Working with Operations teams and Technical Designers to ensure business process flows can be satisfied from the prescribed solution design •Documenting procedures to manage technical steps for new steps for technical developers to follow on the Software Development lifecycle •Describing in business friendly terminology data transformations, translation of values, data synchronization and data migration *DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES*: Attend stakeholder meetings, business requirement gathering meetings, lead breakout discussions, formulate analysis approach, write detailed functional requirements (including use-cases, business processing procedures, technical descriptions), track open issues/assumptions. Key deliverables that this role is expected to write Functional Requirement documents, business operations procedures, and technical operations procedures for new systems. *Key responsibility is to Lead project artifact review sessions* with project stakeholders for soliciting and incorporating feedback ultimately concluding with formal approvals. Team is a dynamic mixture of internal Subject Matter Experts from 3-5 areas along with Consultants and contracted resources. Teams are geographically local within the Chicago area, but are not completely within the same building (resulting in a significant portion of teleconference and webex meetings) Provide requirements to System Designers, Data Architects, ETL Developers, Report Developers, and testers to ensure technical solution meets business need and reporting User Experience needs Coordinate with Testing Lead for developing and unit testing standard data quality reports Review Existing Data sources mapping documents across multiple systems to identify technical requirements for matching/comparing data, timing of data changes, and data quality *SOFTWARE / SYSTEMS EXPECTATIONS*: Candidate should be proficient in MS-Word for documenting requirements, procedures, etc. Candidate should be proficient in MS-Excel for light/medium data analysis Candidate should be proficient in MS-Powerpoint/MS-Visio to communicate process flows high level system architecture, business and system analysis Candidate should have understanding of SQL concepts and be able to perform light data analysis. *HIRING PROCESS: *Interviews will be given by a small number of project team members. Phone screens are acceptable. *OTHER: *Candidate must be on-site and be able to travel (walk or take Northern Trust shuttle) amongst multiple office buildings in the Chicago downtown loop area along LaSalle St. The position is needed in support of a release in December 2014 (finalizing requirements now) but will also be engaged in the start of second project release expected to begin requirements meetings in Oct/Nov 2014.
