Evaluates both the design and effectiveness of internal controls, and evaluates management's implementation of controls. Assesses recommendations for improvements in internal controls considering the costs and benefits of potential recommendations. Effectively communicates recommendations to operating and senior management. Develops, implements, and maintains American Airlines key IT Compliance programs (SOX and/or PCI). Job Responsibilities • Performs and documents compliance assessments for complex IT processes and applications considering internal control objectives, the risks to the Company if objectives are not met, and the internal controls performed by management to mitigate the risks. • Plans, organizes, and implements compliance programs. Simultaneously performs a wide variety of complex IT assessments. • Independently evaluates and analyzes issues and recommendations for improvements in processes, and communicates, as identified, to management. • Leads teams independently while supervising the analysts assigned to each assessment and reviews their work for accuracy and completeness; Manages multiple complex assessments as a project leader. • Identifies developmental needs of members assigned to project teams and develops suggestions to address those needs. Acts as mentors to team members on projects and provides on the job training. Schedules work, assigns responsibility, and delegates authority for assigned projects. Qualifications Basic Qualifications & Interests • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS or Computer Science and at least 6 years of experience in IT, IT Audit, IT Compliance, and/or Information Security. • Experience applying IT and audit principles and ISACA or IIA Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. • Experience evaluating internal controls and developing recommendations. • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives). • Experience presenting to and coordinating senior level meetings, including preparation of agendas, documenting meeting minutes, sending out documents to attendees. • Exposure to PCI and SOX. • At least 1 year of experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.
